Effects for Tracks-Groups-Clips V4 in Wavelab Pro
hello everybody andrew blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today we are moving on to our fourth video as we discuss the effects for tracks groups and clips in the audio montage in wavelab pro but before we start i want to remind you that there's a link below to the free content navigation guide which is an easy to navigate webpage with links to all the content on this channel and besides that in the near future i'm going to begin adding tips and other bits of information that will only be available there you know things like simple steps that will get you started and up and running quick things that are in the videos but are written down in simple steps that serve as quick reminders when you need information down the road if you're working with programs like wavelab or cubase plug-ins or the cable guys shaperbox2 and many many other projects that are in the works then i know you're going to find just like i have that this is an invaluable study aid and the other thing i want to make sure you understand is that this is not a simple pdf this is a constantly updated page that has any information that is new or anytime videos are changed really anything updated and once you have it you will always have the latest information constantly updated so if you haven't gotten it already go to the link below click on it and save it to your favorites it's my gift to you and it's absolutely free okay so let's get started all right so we've been discussing these effects options for quite a few videos now all previous videos in the navigation guide below but now we are going to start looking at the windows that open up so if i take a clip like this and i go over to the inspector and i will say i'm going to add in say a stereo delay all right so a stereo delay opens up in a plug-in window and let's say i'm going to add another effect i'm going to go over and add a reverb we'll add this reverb sc now as you can see they both opened up we have a delay here and we have a reverb and we can continue to do this you know forever adding effects and filling our window with effects but we also have this option we have to close these effects down to enacted if we go back to the inspector and we hit the menu and we go down to the bottom of the screen we have an option says the plug-in window handling and that opens up this dialog for the plug-in window handling has all kinds of great options in it we're going to look at the first basic one which is what we have says use one window per plugin that's what it was doing that's why it was opening up a different window every time if we change that go down to this next option that says plug-in chain windows click on that guy and again we have a bunch of great options we can explore all these but the first and basic option is unlimited number of open windows so we say okay so now when i go back and i open up let's say the stereo delay we have the stereo delay as we did but if you notice now we have tabs and if i go to this next tab without opening another window i still have my reverb so now i have access to both effects in one little window and there's a plus button so if i hit that i can continue to add more effects and just keep going down the line the other benefits when you're using this single window instead of opening up other effects and closing them down let's say i want to change the stereo delay and move it into an eq i can just right click right on the tab and let's say give me an eq i go to frequency and now it replaces the delay with frequency so i have the room works reverb and i have the frequency eq when you have multiple effects you can go back to the menu and you have the option to save plug-in chain give it a name save it then i'm going to go to menu and i'm going to say remove all the plugins then i go back to menu and i say now i want to load the plugin chain which remembers where i saved it i can click on the name of that chain and all of those effects that were in the chain load up when i open them up because i have the opening one window option set up they both open up in the one window as we said in the last video this undoing redo up on the command bar allows you to undo any effects you added or redo them in these plugin windows you have this a b switch between a b so you can like make you know changes or whatever in one setting in this case it says the a and when i hit the b i can make changes in the b and then i can hit a and b and switch instantly between those two changes to compare you have this option right next to the a and b that says copy to a or b depending on what you want to do so like if you have a and you decide you really want to make just a few changes to that you can say copy to b then it goes to b and you can make some slight changes and then you have your option to compare a and b again on every effect window you have the bypass button so you can bypass the effect if you want the other things you have here in the plug-in window you can turn the effect completely off and then of course you have the option for presets so there's a couple of ways to open this window up if you go to the the list in the inspector here and click any one of these effects that'll open up the window you can go right to the clip that has the effects and right click at the bottom you can pick your effect click on it and goes right to that again on the plugin window you can click the tabs to see the different effects you also have the option to take those tabs and reorder them there's also some interesting browsing options for these effects if i go to this clip and i open up the effect on the bottom on the top of the window there's two arrows to move through the clips so instead of actually having to then open up the effects individually you can just use these little arrows and it'll browse you from one clip to the next opening up the effect windows real nice option if you have effects on different tracks let's open up this track now you have up and down arrows so you can go from one track to the next when you're dealing with the plug-in windows you have the option to undo and redo right in the plug-in window if you look up in the upper left here you have these undo and redo arrows if i start hitting this undo each move i just made will get undone or we can redo it or you can also hit there's a major reset here when you hit it it does nothing you have to hold alt and click on it but that totally resets it if your plugin has the focus of the window you can also use alt and z to back right out of these changes or alt shift z to redo them as well we already said that we have this a b comparison so in this case we have this b looks like this if i go to a and i make some completely different changes now i hit the a or the b i get those changes but you can also there's a shortcut key of alt and t which allows you to quickly make those changes if you want to audition them if you have multiple plugin windows open besides this one just multiple windows in general you have the option in the inspector to hit the menu and then you can go down and it's close all windows if you want to get rid of everything at once and then the last thing for today in the menu of the inspector going back to this plug-in window handling for sure look at all the options you have here you have unlimited number of open windows lock the windows on the opening use one window per clip track and group one window per montage and then you have an auto switch between tracks and clips so as you hit the clips the effects will change with them you'll definitely want to take advantage of all those options all right there you go you should now feel like an expert dealing with effects on the clips tracks and groups in wavelab and if there's anything left to be confused just go back and watch some of the other videos because we've covered it all as usual if you haven't grabbed the navigation guide be sure to grab that before you go all this stuff constantly updated and there to be found whether you need it today or a week from now or a month from now or whenever as we continue to move our way through the audio montage and wavelet pro there's still things to be learned but we have made a lot of progress from when we started as always great to have you guys here and we'll see you on the next video
