written down insimple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wave lab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we started talking aboutdirect offline processing in our lastvideo and that video and all videos forthis channel is always in the navigationguide in the link below but let'scontinue today and we're going to startoff talking about Auto applyso there's a couple of approaches fordealing with this direct offlineprocessing that we're going to bediscussing as we go along here andactually there's even more than that butwe're going to focus on a couple wayshere and the first way is when we'reauditioning and looking at theprocessing right here in the offlinewindow when we do that we will beselecting a piece down here of audio andthen we'll be coming up into the windowin the process window and hitting thisplay buttonwhich will play that audio in thiswindowwhen we add some processes to it let'slet's go ahead and add a Reverb to itwe're listening to that and we'reauditioning it right up here in thiswindow and any changes we make to theReverb all happen up here in the windowand on and on like that now there'sanother way to do it and that's play itright down in the project window so if Imake a piece of audio and I set a looppoint and I hit my spacebarnow I'm playing it down here in theproject itself and it's going to looparound I've set a loop point on this butthe same thing applies I can come uphere add an effect let's add a Reverbagainand I can still make changes on theReverb the difference is when it'splaying down here in the projecttypically a lag between the time youmake an adjustment and the time youactually hear the processing for exampleif I take this mix knob and turn it allthe way downsee I can still hear the Reverband now it's gone so there's always alatency lag when you're doing yourprocessing and playing the song in theproject window which now brings us tothis option of What's called the autoapply there's a little check box up hereand it says Auto apply for this examplewe're going to refocus back like I didoriginally we're going to do it here inthe process window so I'm going to goahead and hit this play buttonwhen this Auto apply is checked theminute I add some kind of process hereit's applied onto the audiothere's nothing else to do we're hearingit right on the audio itself in fact ifI stop it in the process window and nowgo ahead and play the project againthe project has that Reverb on therebecause it went ahead and applied itimmediately the minute I made a changenow if I take this back out of here letme delete it out of here again on theother hand if I uncheck this Auto applyoption what's going to happen now isanytime I add an effect the differenceis that if I make any changes on theparameters now and while I'm playingthis song you won't hear those changesanymore I'm going to turn this mix wayupI'm going to turn it all the way downand the Reverb doesn't change and itwon't change until I come up here andnow hit the supply button which I'mgoing to do hit apply we get a littlespinning option over here and now it'schanged itso the bottom line is if you have Autoapply checked you don't have to hit thesupply button if you have it uncheckedthen you have to actually hit the supplybutton and there's pros and cons to whenyou would do this and why you would doit we're going to explore that more aswe go through more examples but you wantto understand you have an option to Autoapply or basically just manually applyall right so now I want to show you someof my favorite things about this directoffline processing but a slight warningthis may send you down a creative RabbitHole from which you may never return oneof the really amazing things about thisprocessing option is it allows you toactually process just selected rangeswithin your chosen audio event so forexample when we come back to this hi-hatwhich right now has no processingwe're gonna stay simple we'll just workwith Reverb for now but understand thiscovers every kind of processing you canthink of but if I take my range tool andlet's say I take just these few hi-hatshere and select them and now I go up Ican either come out of my favorites herewith things I've already selected orwe'll go right back to the plug-inwindow and just stay simple for theminute and I'll come down and I'll pickmy room works again and if you look uphere now with the processing that I putin there there's a noodle icon righthere in this column that says range kindof the picture of an audio wave and whathas happened now is it is processed onlythis range with the Reverb let me playthis whole clip as a loop and you'llhear the Reverb only come in on thislittle partsee there the rest is still drylet's do it one more timeso now if I come back select my audioagain I can now come up to this effectthat I have that's only on this littlepiece of range I can right click on itand I can come down to the option thatsays copy and it really doesn't matterreally what size of the range is at thispoint because you're just going to copythe actual effect itself so now if I goover to a different part let's say Iselect this range right here and I comeback up to this effect and I right clickon it I can come down and say paste itand it pasted that effect on that littleselection of the audio let's take it astep further let's go to this next piecehere I'm going to put another range in Ican take either one of these now becauseit's added another process in the list Ican right click I can hit paste andlet's do it on the last little piece ofaudio here I'll make a long range at theend here and one more time I'll come upright click and I'll hit paste and nowlisten to this audio which has fourlittle sections of processing pasted invery small little increments this iswhere it's amazingso I don't know if you get the sameexcitement I do when you see this kindof stuff but this this is the key toreally being able to get into your audioand do some things that are reallysignature to your sound and are just soamazingly easy to do when you havesomething like this direct offlineprocessing to work with let's tryanother one just for the heck of it I'mgoing to go up here I'm going to takethis range again I'm going to take justone of these little hits and let's go upto this other column that says theprocess column click on that plus andlet's come down hit the reverse hit thatand let's copy that let's put it overthis range of these processes and pasteit and let's put it over our last littlebit and paste thatnow again try to imagine putting allthose onto insert effects and trying toadd some automation to make that happenthere's just no way it can match whatthis thing can do let's listen to thisnowso there you go if you haven't paid forthe direct offline processing this iswhat you can doso then you have these two options uphere one says extend the process rangeand then the other one says the tail andthis is one of the things I'm going totell you probably just avoid this wholearea unless you're one of the few luckyCubase users that actually has thisfunctionality you will find if you doany kind of search on the form or anysearch anywhere that these two optionsare typically loaded with more griefthan they are any kind of useful resultlet me show you the way I work aroundthese and then they become really anon-issue anyway first up with theextend range the idea here is that forexample like we made a little range hereand then let's say I go ahead andpreview thisand I go ahead and add a Reverb to itand now I have this range which hasReverb but nothing on the outside doesin theory you're supposed to be able tocome over here and spin this and thatwill extend this range the easiest wayis just remove your effect come up hereand delete it and if you need adifferent range just make a differentrange you know select something biggeror smaller whatever you want come backhere re-preview it add your Reverb to itor whatever it is and then that range iswhat's affected and then the other thingon the tail parttypically you know again if you have aReverb you would prefer to have theReverb extend on you know when the audioends for example if I make a selectionof this range right here and then playthatwhen I add my Reverb to it it didn'tcreate any tail here so for example if Iplay this audio without playing theprocessor just Loop it back in theproject you have that abrupt ending ofthe Reverbon a piece of audio like this where Ineed to have something like thatextended most of the time I don't but ifI do need something like that extendedif I just come back and record a littleextra piece of audio on therethen just select it all balance it so Ihave some kind of extra space here onthe end like this same thing applies nowwhen I make my selection and I have thatextra bit of audio when I hit my Reverbthen it automatically has the space itneeds to make a proper tail thereand that solves that problem all rightit's going to wrap it up for the day asalways to be able to grab yournavigation guide be sure to grab thatfrom the link below gives you access toall the content on this channel evergrowing and free to use content is inorder categorized and constantly beingupdated so we continue the discussion ofthe direct offline processing lots ofgreat options not without his flaws ofcourse that's what we're here to uncoveras well we want to show where thingsmaybe need a little bit more Improvementso we started talking today about theauto apply we got into processing arange which is a fantastic option withthis offline processor we saw how wecould copy and paste processing and thenI showed you some workarounds for therange extension and adding a tail if youneed it a few more things to talk abouton this subject and we'll get to themnext time as always it's great to haveyou guys here and I'll see you on thenext video
