steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wave lab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime video videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so this is the second videoon score symbols but this is many videosinto the subject of the score in allthose videos and all videos on thischannel are always in the navigationguide in the link below but let's startoff talking about what happens with someof these Crescendo and diminuendosymbols we have quite a few littleoptions available here to look at if wecome over into the Dynamics tab whichopens this up we have down here at thebottom you know Crescendo the menu endoand then a little X I'm going to talkabout that one in a second let's say Itake one of these Crescendo signs Iclick on it I'm going to go over thesenotes and draw it and just like that youcan put the crescendo in pretty plainand simple now there's a thing up on thetoolbar that kind of determines how thisacts if you look up on your toolbarthere's an option over here that saysevent movement restriction we've lookedat some of these other options beforebasically a little pound sign with thearrow next to it of course if you don'thave that right click on your toolbarand make sure you have the option thatsays event movement restrictions onthere when we click on that down arrowon that there's an option that says keepthe crescendo symbols horizontal I'mgoing to uncheck that I'm going toremove this Crescendo symbol again if Idraw it in again if I come over here andclick and draw it when I draw it now Ican draw it at Angles which I may or maynot want to do and once I've drawn it Ican move it at Angles which I may or maynot want to do but I have that optionbut if you come up and enact that keepthe crescendo horizontal restriction nowwhen you move it it only moveshorizontal and it only draws horizontalsame thing with the diminuendo option ifyou want to draw it get that kind ofthing but now you have this little X ifI hit this little X option if I draw itfrom the left to the right it does acrescendo going into a diminuendo so youget both you get it getting louder andthen getting softeron the other hand if I click that samesymbol now draw it from the left to theright it comes in and does just theopposite in other words it starts loudgets soft and then starts loud again sothat's interesting that it depends onwhich side you want to draw it from sothe main thing to understand with theseis that you have this event movementrestriction up on the toolbar to chooseand then you have this one that dependson which side you start from left orright then we have some options forthese slurs and we have some that aredarker and some that are lighter butthis one again is affected by whatchoice you make on this event movementrestriction and this one has an optionthat says snap slurs to notes I'm goingto tell you that personally this onedefinitely needs to be checked becauseit's almost like without it the slursdon't really work right at least theydon't on my system on the other handwhen that is checked they work reallygood so let's take this slur here I'mgoing to click on it and if I kind ofhold it by the note I wanted to snap toand then draw it to another note thatI'd like it to snap to and let go thereit is it draws a nice little slur inperfectly then you have a bezier typeslur basically gives you all kind ofdifferent angles when I draw it it goesstraight but I can grab any one of thesepoints and make these unique curves outof it you have an option once you draw acurve or a slur or something to go tothe point and right click on it and youhave an option that says add thicknessif you want to make it thickerthat definitely helps with thevisibility of ityou have these kind of gradual Dynamicsymbols if I click on this and draw itit goes from pns mode to Forte once youdraw something like that over here inthe properties you can change that so ifI want to change the 4K to a doubleForte then I can do thatthen you get this line and Trill sectionvarious ways to draw in arpeggio typesymbols once you draw these in you canmove them around if you need toyou have some with an arrow at the topor some with the arrow at the bottom youhave these octave symbols I have thenote E here if I draw this symbol inhere then it moves the display of thatnote up an octave still plays at itsoriginal octave but it shows it anoctave higher and if I take this andmove it at the top of the note it movesin an octave lower in the view you havethis other symbol that kind of does thesame thing but it actually goes twooctaves wherever you put it it puts thedisplay of that note down two octaves orabove and you can take these and stretchthem out over multiple notes if you needtoyou have different Trill symbols youhave the option for various kinds ofsolid or dotted lines if you want todraw them indifferent kinds of beams if you want todraw them inyou have an option to draw in differenttuplets these are completely visualwe've talked about actually buildingtemplates but if I draw this and itcomes in with a number five on it let'ssay I want to make three over thesethree notes if I just click on the fiveand then go to my number keypad and typein number three and then I can do thatso we have some interesting options interms of building and showing a Trilllet me play this little piece herethank youand this little area here is kind of aTrill so all we have to do is select thenotes right click and we're given anoption in the list to say build a Trillwe get a little dialogue and any one ofthese kind of gives you a slightvariation let me just take it like it isand I'll hit OK and you can see it putthe little Trill Mark here and I put thenote with some kind of graphic on it andput a little help note next to it toshow what the trill node isso now when I play thisyou get that then we move on to thisother Tab and we've kind of looked atthis before when we're looking at thetext and the lyrics but there is anoption in here that I'm going to tellyou is probably one of my all-timefavorite things and discovering this waslike just a happy moment and that's theoption to be able to draw in the damperpedal not only does it draw it in but itactually affects the midi which I lovethese kind of options so I have a bunchof hi-hats just doesn't it as a noteinstead of a rhythmlet me solo this it'll be easier to hearitand this kind of issue comes up onthings like this but it comes up onpiano parts comes up in so many thingsand sometimes going into the midi editorand drawing it is more challenging thisis so easy what happens is I have adamper pedal hooked up on my midikeyboard here you can't see thatobviously but when I play this I'm goingto push on it Watch What Happens as thesound is playing I'm going to step on itand see it the notes ring out and when ILet Gothey immediately stop I picked thisparticular sound because it's realobvious sometimes it's not so obviousbut again trying to draw this sometimesinto the midi editor is one thing butwhen you have this option that they giveus here you can go to the little pedalpicture here hit it if I come up hereand I can draw it on any note I want butI'm going to draw it on this one hereand I can move it if I need to just kindof get it in the right place this enactsthe pedal in other words it starts itthen you have another little one thatstops IT if I click on that let's say Icome over to here and hit it now listento what happens as this startsisn't that something that would havebeen a lifesaver on so many projects inthe past if I'd have known that and ofcourse you can put multiple ones let'ssay you got pedals at every other noteand then stop or whatever again justclicking and drawing these in is just somuch easier than drawing it on the midinow let me show you what happens in themidi I'm going to come out of this scorefor a minute go into the key editorwe look at our list of controllers Icome down to the cc64 sustain and youcan see that it's drawing it in here atthis point it was drawn very low then itcame up high to enact it then it wentback down low again so in MIDI you havethis kind of a thingnow if I go backto the score again removing these is aseasy as selecting them hitting thedelete key and now they've been removedfrom midi and they won't play in thescore eitherthat is just a fantastic option we'realso given a couple of preferences inhow these display this initial option istwo symbols so if we put it in a pedalagain put this end of the pedal we havethese two different symbols if we go upto our settings and we go to the projecttab down to the notation style andscroll down until we find themiscellaneous category you have a coupleof options here down at the bottom itsays draw the damper pedals as right nowand it says two symbols but if I clickon that I have the option to make it apetal and a bracket so if I choose thatand I hit apply you can see now it sayspedal and it has a long bracket visuallyshowing where the sustain is go back tothese options and I say give me just abracket only apply then it just showsthe bracket itself I definitely like thetwo symbols and I definitely like thepedal and the bracket these are goodoptions besides that if you have a lotof these and you don't even want to seethem you have an option up here thatsays hide the pedal markers and you cango over and check that hit apply andthen that removes it from ViewI like seeing it I want to know what'sthere great option all right it's goingto wrap it up for today as always if youhaven't grabbed your navigation guide besure to grab that from the link belowthis video gives you quick easy accessto all the content on the channel evergrowing and free to use videos are inorder and categorized and being updatedall the time do yourself a favor clickon it download it save it to yourfavorites and you will find yourselfhaving to work a whole lot less to findthe answers so we looked at a few morethings in the score symbols we startedlooking at the crescendo and thehorizontal options up on the toolbar weinserted different kinds of slurs andthe busy a slurs we saw the gradualDynamic properties we looked into thelines and the trails we built the trilland then we found out that we canactually draw in the damper pedal whatan amazing option that is if you've everhad to do that you know what I'm talkingabout if you haven't well when the daycomes you'll see as we continue to movealong Through The Score Learning all thedifferent elements and how to use themas always it's great to have you guyshere and I'll see you on the next video
