projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we're on the fifth videonow as we continue discussing thecontrol room features in Cubase all theprevious videos are as usual in thenavigation guide in the link below butlet's start off today talking about thecontext menus that are available in thecontrol roomwhen I say context menus I mean if yougo to the control room itself which inthis case is over here on this rightZone and I right click in the controlroom I'm given a menu with a bunch ofoptions now me personally when I set upQ mixes I usually just activate what Iwant and I set the level but there's nodenying that Cubase has given us a lotof options in terms of what they havepre-configured in here and some of theseMay suit your needs very well the trickis to understand exactly what they meanso let me demonstrate them for you nowas a reminder we spoke in one of theprevious videos about how to actuallycreate Q mixes so if you are unfamiliarwith that you're going to want to goback and watch that particular videowhich is in the navigation guide belowbut assuming you're up with everythingwe're talking about today and you'vealready got some Q mixes in your mixerand you're allowed to have up to four ofthem then this context menu applies tothat situation as you investigate thisyou find out there's two ways Cubase hasset it up one option is to affect all ofthe cues the other option is you're ableto go to individual cues and do specificthings I'm going to demonstrate both foryou so you should be able to see howthis operates let me just do a realbasic manual setup so you can see firstand then we'll go to these options ifI'm looking at my mixer and I bring upso I can see the cues in the rack hereyou can see again I have four differentcues here and you can turn them on byhitting this activation button and theylight up when you do that and each oneis individual and can be turned on itsown way when you turn them on you havethe option to change their Levels bydragging with your mouse and you canchange the panning below it adjustingthe pattern here so let's begin lookingat these options so if I right clickover here in the control room and whenyou're going to do the one that affectsall cues you have to click somewherethat is not on a specific queue in otherwords keep your mouse over a gray areahere so I'm going to right click on thisand the first option that comes up saysall the cues from the selected mixerchannels now that's the other thing youhave to be aware of this only applies tomixer channels that you have selectednow you have a lot of freedom in thisbecause you can individually click yourmixer channels and pick the ones youwant to affect you can hold Ctrl andpick any number of them in you know anydifferent order spaced out however youwantor you can select every single mixerChannel you have being aware that thisonly applies to actually visible mixerchannels so if you've got them hiddenwith some kind of visibility change orthey're in a folder somehow theyactually have to be visible in the mixerthey don't necessarily have to bevisible in terms of scrolling aroundlike I'm going to show you here theyjust have to be actually visible in themixer itself I've seen various peopledoing this various ways but I'm going toshow you the way I prefer to do it ifI'm going to select every channel on mymixer I go to either one side or theother let's go to the far left side I'mgoing to click on it I'm going to holdshift and then hit my right arrow andjust let my right arrow run throughevery single Channel at that point everysingle channel in my mixer that'svisible is selected so when I do thesethings to the cues it's going to affectevery single Channel let's go ahead anddo some things so I go back up and Iright click in the context area and Isay all cues from selected mixerchannels and I'm not necessarily goingto go in order let me show you somethings here the first one I'm going togo to down here says activate the Qsentence so I'm going to click on thatone now I'm getting a warning do youreally want to activate every single Qsend I'm going to say yes and as you cansee everything has lit upnow if I go up to any particular Q sendand I move it it's still individual interms of I can adjust it by itself andthere's various quick controls that willchange that but we want to stay with thecontext let me show you so I'm going toright click on this again and I go to myall cues and now the very first optionhere says change the Q sends level soI'm going to hit that and you get alittle dialog here and basically thisallows you to change the volume or levelon every single queue so I can grab itwith my mouse and just drag it and watchall the cuesevery single one of them go up or downquite an operation now there's a buttonbelow it that's a check that saysrelative mode if I kick that one theyall infinitely go quiet if I click itthey all come back up to where they wereif I click that again and goesinfinitely quiet I can still grab itwith my mouse on the display and I canstart bringing them up to whatever Iwant all at the same time let's closethat out also if you don't hit OK itjust reverts back to what it was now thenext option it gives us is it says usethe current mixed levels now before I dothat let me show you this so if you'vealready got your mixer set up to whereit's you know the way you want it youhave your levels set this is a greatoption because now I can steal whateversettings you have right from your mixerand without you having to do anythingwe'll copy it onto your cues as you cansee these faders are all at zero butthese faders are down lower and thenthese faders kind of come up a littlebit if I go up and I take this optionwhere I right click and I go to one thatsays use the current mixer settings andagain it says are you sure you want todo this I go yeah I'm sure assign it nowwhat it does is on every channel it hasa different fader it takes those cuesand adjusts them exactly to that faderpretty impressive operation let's moveon to the next one you have an optionthat says use the current pan settingsso if you've got pan settings allassigned and you want to change them youcan assign that and away they go justlike we activated all of them we can godown here and we can deactivate them allby hitting deactivate the Q sends hitapp and it says are you sure I'm sureand it turns them all off it keeps themat the same level they were set at inthis case was from the mixer settings onthe other hand if I go back here againand re-enable all these again they stillcome out at the exact level settings butthen you have another option at the endof all this that says reset the Q centsand when I click on this and it gives methe option to say are you sure I sayyeah reset it it now disables like theother ones does but it also putseverything back to zero so it does acomplete reset for you puts everythingoff puts everything back at zero thoseare some very nice options to have ifyou become familiar with them and canuse them now you have more specificoptions which are all those choices butyou can go to a specific queue likeagain I have four cues so mine says q1or references references Q4 I can goover any one of these and right clickI'm going to go up to the q1 right clickover it and I have a smaller menu ofwhat I was just looking at onedeactivates it and one below it gives meall of those options that I just wentthrough but they're specific to this Qlet me try to break that down so you cansee it and understand it better becausethis is q1 this Top Line is q1 again Ihave to have the mixer channels selectedI'm going to do this on and againthey're all selected for this examplebut if I go up and I go over q1 I rightclick and I say from the selected mixerchannels I'm going to take that sameoption I did before where I say enablethe Q sends and I click on it now onlyq1 got turned on see that the very topone these other ones didn't get turnedon let's do another one that's kind ofout of the mix let's go to our fourthcue which is at the bottom of this bunchhere I'm going to right click on thattake that option that says enable the Qsends and now the bottom set of cues isall turned on I can now go to any one ofthose cues let's go back to q1 forexample I right click on it and I can doall the things I did before I can changethe Q send levels mixed levels let's dothat now they reflect whatever the mixerhad here in terms of the fader but itonly did it on q1 Q4 and the other cuesare untouched if I right click on thisagain and I go to where it says changethe Q send levels again I can justmanually grab this and move it and thosecues will move now again because therelative is checked they're all going tokind of move relative to each othermeaning if one's a little lower than theother it'll stay a little lower than theother even if I raise these up by thesame token if I uncheck relatively I'llgo quiet and I can bring them up likethis now one more thing to observe notonly can you right click and see all thecues and do something to all the cues orright click on specific cues and affectthem but in the area of all the cues youalso have those same individual cuesalready listed here so in essence youdon't really have to go over anyparticular queue because everything isright here I can deactivate q1 I canaffect the q1 like I did I can affectthe second cue affect the third q andthe fourth q and all the menus andoptions are right there on the samecontext menu with the option to resetjust those individual cues or go back tothe very top and take the option toreset every single queue which I'm goingto do are you sure yesso one last thing I want to talk aboutin today's video I've had a few peoplewho have the Steinberg Ur 44 or somesimilar model to that and the questionkeeps coming up can you set up the Qsentence into the UR 44's dedicatedheadphone Jacks and the answer is no youcan't the UR 44 or any of those kind ofmodels best I can say with that is youkind of have the engineer's seat whenyou're using those models which is thesame thing I have meaning that we cansit here in the control room and we canset up these Cube mixes and we can hearthem in our headphones but if you wereto try to send something out to somebodyelse through those same headphone Jacksthey would hear the same thing you do ifyou switch to q1 they would hear q1 andand etc etc and I don't want to turnthis into a ur-44 video but let me showyou one thing in case you're not awareof it if you go up to your studio andyou come down there's an option thatsays the audio hardware setup I click onthat now with another sound card maygive you something else there again Idon't know because I don't have anothersound card but if you have this Ur 44 orsome similar model like that you alreadyhave quite a bit of flexibility built inbecause you have two headphone jacks onthe unit itself typically at leastthat's what I have and each headphonejack has its own volume control so eachperson listening through the headphonescan adjust their own volume but you alsohave this option as well if you look atthis hardware setup tab Like It Is RightNow the default Way shows that bothheadphone one and headphone 2 arehearing the same thing in terms of theeffects of the Reverb in case you wantto put more Reverb on your vocalist oryour singer's voice but you have theoption to switch the phone to to its owndedicated input and if I switch it overto that now when I go to the Reverbrouting tab here I can click on the mixfor the first headphones and I canchange the effect and the dry wet mix ofthe Reverb which for me as the engineerwould be at zero or off but then for myvocalist I could switch to themicrophone too and then I can increasetheir Reverb to whatever makes their youknow comfortable when they're singing sothey have their own effects and andtheir own volume control already justbuilt into the unit and I'm sure othersound cards have many other you knowfeatures and things like that availableas well but again as far as using theactual cue out to where you would besending the cues to different performersthe best way and the only way that I'msure of that you would do with that isby going to your audio connections intoyour control room and then when you pickyour cue whether it's q1 Q2 whatever youwould then pick the dedicated Hardwareoutput that you want to send it to whichwould then go to that individual'sheadphone amplifier and that's going towrap it up for today as usual if youhaven't grabbed your navigation guide besure to grab that before you go as linksto all the content on the channel evergrowing and free to useand it's a great tool to use forstudying learning and also for reviewingso we've made quite a bit of Headway onthe control room I'm sure that we willbe wrapping it up in the next video Ifthere are some things that some of youmay still be confused about feel free toput them in the comments and if I canget to them before I actually make thatvideo in the next few days I'll try toaddress any of those questions you maystill have but again whether you have afull out Studio that you're working inor just your home studio which is prettymuch what I use the control room offersquite a bit of flexibility that if youdon't use it you're missing out on andthat's a wrap for today as usual it'sgreat to have you guys here I'll see youin the next video
