steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wavelab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we're on our fourth videoof the spectral editing options inwavelab the previous videos and allvideos for this channel are in thenavigation guide in the link below butlet's move on today's discussion as westart talking about the audio inpainting optionin this example I have a pad soundthat's fading out and then a littleglitch click that comes in at the endand with the audio in painting optionallows us to do is to basically identifyour problem I'm going to use therectangle tool to make a selection hereand then depending on what choices Imake it's going to kind of try to drawfrom the surrounding areas and thenbasically in paint over the glitch totry to cover it up or remove it or blendit in in some way if we go up to theSpectrum Tab and then the audio andpainting button here and we hit thisarrow for the options the first optionwe have is show the surrounding regionso if I click that on now I can seethere's this little box around myselection if I go down to the bands andI start changing those options that asurrounding area either increases ordecreases so depending on how much Iwant to pull from the surrounding areato try to blend it away that will dependon what choice I make here for thisoption I'll leave it down at the bottomthe Precision same thing again is kindof telling you how specific or howintense the band it's going to use toyou know make the drawing if you use thehigh option it's going to really takesome time to try to draw in whatever itcan if you use the low option it'll bemore of a blurred sound let's just gofor the low for now and then this lastoption says the Persistence of theoriginal and it says zero percent andyou have this little slider here and ifyou move it up it goes from zero to ahundred percent basically what that'sdoing is telling you how much of thisoriginal glitch is going to remain sodepending on whether you want itcompletely removed or some semblance ofhaving it removed that's what thatslider will do so I click the audio andpainting button and now the process isgoing to begin to run and it takes areasonable amount of time to completewhen it completes the process we can seethat we still have our sound in herebut it's been kind of overwritten withsome areas of the surrounding silenceand all in all it's a little bit quieterso here's what we have nownow if we want to repeat the process wecan hit the button againand now it has greatly diminished theoriginal clicky sound and left us morewith the silenceand we could continue with thisdepending on how much we want to try toremove the air out of our audio allright so then moving over you have afine tuning option so if we click onthis the first thing we have here is abunch of options on the window in termsof what kind of processing it's going touse it says Han or Hamming a lot ofthese options showed up when we werepicking the window or the colors wewanted to see on the actual bands butlet's go through a few of these I cansave you some time we can just see someof the results each time you run thistest on my example it takes a good twominutes so I'll just run through thesereal quick for you we've been runningthem on the hunt let's move it up tothis Hamming and see what happens I'mgonna hit the audio and painting on thisall right that Hamming option tookalmost three minutes to run that processobviously that's a little more intenselet's play itwe'll just keep the same example andjust keep driving it down let's go on tothis next option the triangle optionlet's go ahead and hit thatsame thing that took a good long threeminutes to run that process let's playitand each one of them just continues towipe more of the sound out and bring inmore of the silence quite a few optionshere Blackman Blackman Harris Kaiser andvarious choices of these Kaisers soagain depending on what kind of areayou're trying to do you can justexperiment as we move down it has anoption for bands which is the same thingwe had on the actual impainting but wealso have this multi-resolution whichgives us the choice of doing a bunch ofdifferent bands at once so let's goahead and check thatI'll run that as a final test hit theimpainting buttonand that was the most intense of allthat took almost a good solid fourminutes to run through that process Sothat obviously took some heavyprocessing power let's hear what we havethat's pretty much all but remove thatsound from there all right let's makeanother selection here with thisrectanglenow we have an option over here thatsays smoothing and if I hit that we geta little box here and basically this isgoing to determine how blurred the youknow perimeter is around the outsideconcerning the time and concerning thefrequencies and if we look here weactually have two little slider switcheshere they give us a slight visual as towhat's going to happen so if I move thefirst slider here it shows a picture andhow the frequencies are going to blurtowards the inside of the selection andsame thing if I go to the bottom sliderand I start moving it it shows how thefrequencies will blur over the top andthe bottom of frequency range and wehave the option here to pick the outsideor the inside if I undo this inside andhit the outside one then we kind of geta different set of pictures and it showshow it only works on the outside it'salmost like an eclipse and if we checkthem both which we have the option to dothen we can see it's going to blur thewhole Spectrum inside and outside of ourselection so which one's going to workyou've got to experiment that's all youcan do depending on air you're trying toget rid of and what you're trying toachieve but let's take our little clickthat I have here and let's put a drasticchange here I'm going to slide this upquite a bit I'm going to slide the otherone down quite a bit so it's basicallygoing to blur the silence into theselection here throughout the top bottomand the left and right of thefrequencies let's go ahead and hit ouraudio and painting button and see whathappensso as usual that took a good coupleminutes so what it's done now becausewe're doing smoothing not only has ittaken the Silence from the outside andbrought it in to kind of Wipe Out thesound it's also pulled the Hits From TheInside frequencies and pulled them outso you get a very strange kind of almostreverse effect here's what we havelet's try this option let's take thisselection and make it very small righton the actual sound itselfand then let's change our smoothingoption to only work on the inside of ourselection we'll uncheck the outsideoption let's run this and see what wehaveokay so that option left the soundintact let's hear itbut it definitely pulled it way down involume and then last up you have theseplayback options which are very good forexample right now we have regular whichmeans we're going to hear our sound andour selectionwe have the option to solo The Selectionso we'll only hear what's selected hereand then we also have the option to dojust the opposite to mute the selectionso now we'll hear the surrounding butthe selection will muteforeignwhat's great about this is you canchange your selection size to see if wereally captured the sound you're tryingto get rid of or change in some way forexample if I leave it on the muteselection but I shrink it down a littlebit to where the end of the selectionstill kind of hangs out there a littlebit now I can hear it when it goesthrough itand now I know even if I remove this I'mstill going to have artifacts in thereall right it's going to wrap it up fortoday as always if you haven't grabbedyour navigation guide be sure to grabthat from the link below gives youaccess to all the content on thischannel in order categorized easy to getto and the whole purpose is to try tomake your life and my life a lot easierwhen we're trying to figure out how torun this stuff so we'll leave it rightthere on this whole spectral editingthing in the next video I'm pretty sureI'll just jump into doing a bunch ofexamples and see all this in action wehave a good idea now of how to use thetools and make our selections we took anextra look today at the audio inpainting option and how to fine-tune ithow to use the smoothing optionsso next time around I guess we'll justfix a bunch of stuff and then from thatpoint we should all be able to go offand make our audio even that much betteras we continue to learn how to use allthese tools that are available inwavelab and as always it's great to haveyou guys here I'll see you in the nextvideo
