I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything up updated andonce you have it you will always havethe latest information constantlyupdated so if you haven't gotten italready go to the link below click on itand save it to your favorites it's mygift to you and it's absolutely freeOkay so let's get started so we keepmoving along on the information of thescore all previous videos on the subjector in the navigation guide in the linkbelow but it turns out we can actuallyscore for our midi drums and we can makeuse of drum Maps so let's have a look atthat to begin with I'm going to useGroove agent I'm going to open it up I'mgoing to take a kit I'm going to takethis ambient kit and select it and thenI'm going to go to the groove agenttrack and in the area for drum Maps I'mgoing to go down to where it says createa drum map from the instrument click onthat and I'm going to create a midi parton the groove agent track and open thatup in the score and then next I'm goingup to my midi menu and I'm going to comedown to where it says the drum map setupand here's where we can begin to makesome changes on how we want things tolook on the score so the first thing tolook at we actually have a functionsarea in the upper left with a drop downyou can create a new map or a new happyin case you want to copy what you haveand make some changes you can remove itor load it or save it then you have theoption that says edit head pairs if youlook over here there's these littlesymbols there's like a symbol for anopen hi-hat or a symbol for a closedhi-hat we're going to look at these in asecond but when you're looking at theseedit head pairs you're basically gettinga chart that you can create thesesymbols or change them I want to cautionyou to be careful when you're workingwith this if you have your mouse overthe actual symbol like in this case Ihave this dark symbol here and then Iclick on it and it automatically openswith my mouse over some different symbolif I don't remember what my symbol wasand I let go I've automatically justRewritten that symbol I know it's thisone so I'm going to go back to it thebest way to experiment with this isclick in the middle of the two symbolsthat way you won't automaticallyoverwrite something and you can thenlook at this chart so regarding thosehead pairs if you look over here on theleft you have an option that says usethe head pairs if we look at the headsymbol column there's only one symbolper sound if I check this use the pairsthen I have another option that saysedit in the scores this gives us theapps to change the drum map right in thescore we'll check that out as we go herethen at the bottom you have the outputin case you want to reassign where thesounds are going and then going over onthe right we have the pitch to startwith here we have the name if we want tochange it we can click on it to changeit we have a snap value if we want tochange that we have the option to muteit you have the input note which prettymuch corresponds to the pitch you gotthe output note in case you want tochange that you have the channel you canchoose and the output again you can pickany number of things that you havelisted here you have the display pitchso for example if you have threedifferent hi-hats you can get them allon the same pitch again with the headsymbol and then you have the option forthe voice in case you want to get thingsso that the stems all go the same wayokay so let's see what we can do here Ihave this drum pattern let's hear thisopen it up in MIDI first and we can seewe have a kickwe have a clapand then we have these hi-hats the nextthing we're going to do is make a drummap out of this if we go to the grooveagent Channel we go to the option wherethe drum maps are it says create a drummap from the instrument we're going todo that and then we're going to openthis pattern up in the scoreand this is what we have which is in myopinion totally unusable as it is let'ssee what we can do to make it usablelet's go to our drum map setup and nowwhen I click on a note in the scoreit actually highlights that note downhere in the drum map which is convenientlet me click another one herethen it changes to the hi-hat that'sgood over in the left it shows the drummap that was created so the first thingI want to do is try to get these notesoff all these crazy Ledger lines and getthem into some readable easier positionif I select any individual noteand then I spin it with my mouse wheelit actually changes to a different notedown here on the map editor but we don'twant that to happen what we want tohappen is that this note that we see wewant to change the way it's displayed sowe have a hi-hat on F sharp one let'ssee if we can move this to a higher Fsharp I'm going to go over to the optionthat says display I'm going to click onthat and then as I start to spin itI can bring all of those notes that aredown on F sharp and I can keep raisingthem up all I'm doing is spinning mymousenow I'm going to stop right there andthat's on F sharp four and that's goingto work out good for what I want let'sgo to these kick drums which are on C1let's bring these up to another Csomeplace and again it's just raisingall of the notes and it's raising everyone of them up as I change the displayI'm going to leave it right there atthat middle C option C3 that leaves onemore note here my clap is on D sharp oneI'm going to move that up to a differentD sharpI click on it I start spinning it upso far this is an easy solution and I'llleave it right there see what we haveso that worked out good it didn't changethe sound of the notes but it made it aneasier place to read next thing I wantto do is I want to get rid of all theseextra rests so I'm going to go over tomy display quantize so right now is setto 16th notes and rests now I'm going tomove that to eighth notes and that'smuch better now we're starting to getsomeplace let's play it one more timethat's definitely an improvement rightthereso the next thing I don't like is thateverything is on the same stems andthey're all pointing down what I wouldreally like to do is take these hi-hatsand get them on their own stems goingupwards so what I'm going to do is I'mgoing to click and drag over all ofthese hi-hats at the topI'm gonna see if I can change to adifferent voice so I'm going to rightclick and have an option to move tovoice and everything's on voice one solet's go to Voice two and see whathappens so none of those options allowedme to change my voice go down into thedrum map and we have an option to changevoices down here let's see what happensdown here go to the column that saysvoice I'm going to change it to voicetwo and that did it that got it untovoice too that worked good I'm going tochange these other voices and see whathappens to the stems automatically let'sgo to Voice threethere is no voice three so itdisappeared let's go to Voice fivewell that's a nice option it moved it toa different staff see voice sixall right so I'm gonna go back to voicetwo because I want to try somethingagain I'm going to hit the first noteand double hold shift and double clickthen I'm going to come over to myproperties and I have an option here forstem let's see if I can hit the stems upthere we go perfect that did it nowwe're making progress let's see if wecan move these notes down to a lowerstaff I'm gonna hit my kick hold shiftdouble click which selects both my kickand my clap change the kick down tovoice five that worked out good that mycollapse on voice one let's hold shiftand double click see if we can go overand change the stems on those to Stemsdown oh now we're getting somewhere muchbetter much better let's play this onemore timesee if you know how to manipulate thisthing you can actually get somewhere soI'm going to delete some hi-hats which Idid here let's cycle record and see whathappens when we put them back inthat works out good let's try adifferent pattern foreignworks out really good see if we canchange these stems go to the stem optionmake them go upperfect so there you go there's a way toget your drums on the score so there'sthis option we kind of looked at it butwe haven't discussed it too much thisediting scores down here on the left andbecause this is unchecked that's whycertain things have happened like theyhave in other words I couldn't rightclick and choose a different voice andthe same thing happens if I click a noteand now that I've changed the way itdisplays if I move this notein my system it turns into somethingcompletely crazy and goes back to allthese Ledger lines and it's very hard toactually get it back to any kind ofnormal note I'm going to control Z outof this on the other hand if I come downand turn on this edit and scores anychanges I now make to the note are onlythe display so for example if I start tomove this up all the notes start to moveup just as they did before when I waschanging the display and I can keepmoving them up and it will still stay onthe same note in this case it's stillhitting a kick drum I'm only changingthe way it displays there's a realadvantage to having edited in the scoreson when you're doing that if I turn thisoff again the other thing that happensif I double click on a note and I getthis edit note info button which istypically what happens with the scorebut if I have added and scores checkedand I double click on a note it allowsme to change the note head and then theother option when you right click on thenote it says move to voice but if I tryto change this to a different voice itreally doesn't react and it's actuallybetter to come down here into the drummap and do the changing of the voicingthe same thing if I hit it in scores andnow I come up and right click on a noteand I say move to voice and say I wantit to go to Voice six then it doeschange to voice six and it reflects downhere in the drum map so I'm sure if Icould recommend hitting edit in thescores right from the beginning whenyou're starting to edit notes but forsure once you've moved things along editand scores option is definitely a greatoption to use the other option to payattention to if I go back to my settingson the staff Tab and then the optionsthere's a check box that says use thescore drum map if you're going to bedoing this kind of stuff you'll want tomake sure that's checked if I uncheckthis and hit apply then I have thingsall over the place again once I put thedrum map back on and hit apply theneverything follows the way I've set itup now I've added a couple of openhi-hats in herethe first thing I want to do is tochange the note head because I want tomake sure they're identified differentfrom the regular hi-hats so I'm going toturn this edit and scores back on thenI'm going to identify the note righthere and double click on it I think I'llmake it into this little diamond shapeso I'm gonna go down here now let'schange these little upside down diamondsand I want to move these up to the sameplace as my closed high hat so with myedit and scores on I'm going to startmoving this up to this higher F sharpand my hi-hats are on voice too so Iwant to get these open hi-hats on voicetoo as well I'm gonna hit the first oneand because I have editing scores I'mjust going to right click on one ofthese say move to Voice number twoand that did that just fine and alsosolved the problem of getting my stemsin the right place now you have a realslick move you can do here let's say Iwant to get all these hi-hats to displayin a different place again I haveediting scores checked I can click onone of my closed hi-hats and I can holdCtrl and click on my open hi-hat so thatboth of those are selected and now withmy mouse I can move them all down at thesame time or up or whatever I want to dowith them so that's a great move to beable to control all that and this lastoption back in the settings you do havean option to make your drums go on onesingle line there's an option that sayssingle line drum staff if I click thathit apply then I get this kind of athing me personally I'm not so sure Ilike this but there's probably someplaces where this is a great idea butI'm going to leave mine unchecked itgives me the freedom to be able to seewhat I'm doing exactly and there's youroptions for using the drums in the scoreall
