steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wavelab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime video those arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we've been talking aboutthe score various options for many manyvideos all the previous videos are inthe navigation guide in the link belowbut if you play the guitar or some otherkind of fretted instrument the scorealso has some options specificallydesigned for you and I have to say theyare pretty impressivelet's have a listen to this tiny littleexcerpt that I was working on where Iput a nylon guitar in here with sometalature[Music][Applause][Music]you have to imagine that if you are aguitar player or some other frettedinstrument player this opens up a lot ofoptions for you so where do we begin andhow do we make this happen let's closethis down there's a couple of ways toapproach it one is to you know startright from scratch another way is totake something that you already havelike this little piece of music herelet's start with that option first wherewe have something to work with so thefirst thing you want to do is go over toyour treble clef option here and doubleclick on it and you get an option toedit the clef you pull the little bardown you get all kinds of options fordifferent kind of bass clefs and thatkind of thing but at the bottom one saystablature you want to choose that andsay okay and that changes your cleftside into the word tab then the nextthing you're going to want to do is goup to your settings which you can eitherget on this little quick bar or you cango to score settings and in the stafftab you have a tab that actually saystablature and if you go there and kickthat on that brings things to life youcan make some changes on your strings ifyou want to but we're just going to takethis and say apply at that point Cubasetries to take its best shot at creatingsome kind of tablature so you have thenose above here and then and then youhave the tablature below itlet's say we want to create something ofour own right from scratch close thiseditor out I'm going to come down andextend my midi part in another four barsopen it back up in the score againand we're going to stay on the bottompart because that's the actual tab itactually has six different linesstanding for the six different stringsand that can be changed as well butwe're just going to stay with thestandards and let's say I want tocompose something or write something inso I can right click now choose my notebutton or insert note button up from themouse and then when I click and dragover the tablature option instead ofseeing notes I'm going to see numbersand I can still drag to the you knowwhatever the quantized value I have sethere but basically I can click and dragto whatever number I want on the Fretsnow you can try to just drag in exactlywhat you want but I always find theeasiest way when you're dealing withinserting notes in general is rough inyour basic notes first for example I'mgoing to have four open D strings hereon the fourth string so I'm just goingto click one thereI'm going to click and move over to thenext quarter note and I'm not going toworry about if there's a number thereI'm just going to click a number indoesn't matter if it's one or whateverit shows click and drag over another onehere and another quarter value and thenclick another one over at anotherquarter value switch out of my add noteand back to my selector tool and thenit's so easy to just go back and likeclick a note and spin with my mouse towhatever I want so I want that at zerothen I can use my right arrow to move tothe next note very easily withoutchanging and just spin it to what I wantI want it back at zero hit my arrowagain spin it to zero so I find it somuch easier to enter my notes in thatway and then just like that I have thesefour notesnow let's say I want to add some extranotes above it so I go back to insert mynotes put some eighth notes on the firststring here so I'm going to click themin and the same thing I'm just going tokind of put them in on the first stringdoesn't matter what number shows up atexactly different eighth note incrementsyou can do this with the step keyboardas well but we're just going to staywith the mouse for now if you actuallyare a guitar player you're going tounderstand exactly what I'm going to dohere because I can visualize in my headwhat fret I want to change here which Ialready know that so I'm going to startchanging these notes I'm going to makethis an F sharp I'll spin it up to anumber two fret I'll use my right arrowand move over and I'm going to move thisto an open string I just spin it down tozero I'm gonna go back to the secondfret again I'm going to take this one upto the fifth fret I just spin it up tofive I'll spin this down to the secondfret again basically I'm doing anarpeggio over a d chord use my rightarrow again and move back to zero againI'm going to move this up to the fifthfret and then right arrow and take thisback to the take this back to the secondfret and there you go just like that Ihave some tablature now if I play this[Music]just like thatso I started off showing you this let mereopen this track real quick and I saidgo ahead and start by setting your clefto the tablature option in reality youdon't really have to do that I wasshowing you that more as an option toknow how to change your clef but againthe properties screen rules in so manyareas if I make sure nothing is selectedhere and I go over to my properties andI look at the staff mode right now minesays single and if I hit that at thebottom I have an option that saystablature and if I click on that Iautomatically get my tablature optionhere which has no effect on the topstaff that just stays like it is withthat clef but then I can go ahead and doexactly what I did by adding notes intothe tablature on the bottom and the samething applies if you go to your settingsand you just go right to the tablatureTab and then click that on hit apply youget the same thing you get the tablatureand the clef stays at the top justdepends on how you want to work onthings you have some other great optionson the settings tab in the tablaturefirst of all you have some presets if Iclick on that I have guitar standard orI have various open tunings if I want touse them and I have a preset for bass ifI click on the base one but look downnow only four strings are active ofcourse I can change that if I want touse a five string bass or whatever butit shows the typical base layout andthen if I hit apply on that it changesthe tab to just four strings and markssome x's where the notes are just alittle bit too high for the bass putthat back on guitar you also have thisoption that says midi channel onethrough six if you have a guitarsynthesizer and you're transmitting onthe different midi channels for eachstring you can kick that on and thenwhen you play your midi synth it'llautomatically know what string is beingplayed if for some reason you want youractual note to change to some kind oftablature number if you click on it goover to your properties you now have anoption that says tablature which you canclick on and then this changes to anumber right now so zero and you canspin this to whatever you want let mesay I'm putting it on number four andnow this shows a number four right onthe actual staff you have some fontsettings for your tablature again if youopen up your score settings go to theproject tab in the beginning here and asyou come down you have enough that saysfont four and when you click that downarrow you have an option here fortablature if I click on that for examplemaybe I want to change the size tosomething bigger so I can click on thatmake the size some other option hitapply then I get a bigger number overhere or I may want to change the font tosomething more creative I'll pick thisGothic font hit apply and then you canchange it to whatever you want that wayas I've already said if you selectsomething you want to change this pitchyou can just click on it use your mouseand spin it to wherever you want youhave an option up here on the info baryou can change the pitch up and down ifyou want or you can just click on it anddrag it around if you want and by doingthat you can move it to the differentstrings but if you want a more exact wayto do that you can right click onsomething and I can say I'll move it tothe fifth string and it actually knowswhat fret to go to to get that samepitch so all in all some pretty easy touse and understand options if you wantto start using tablature in your scoreand that's going to wrap it up for thisvideo as always if you haven't grabbedyour navigation guide be sure to grabthat from the link below gives you easyaccess to all the synthesizer we sawhow we can change the note heads tonumbers we can change the fonts if wewant to and we saw we can move the notesaround to different strings if you playa fretted instrument you want a graphicway to kind of write out what you'redoing this is a great set of tools foryou as we continue to work our waythrough the score we've made prettysignificant progress at most of thesubjects we
