serveas quick reminders when you needinformation down the road if you'reworking with programs like wave lab orCubase plugins or the cable guys shaperbox and many many other projects thatare in the works then I know you'regoing to find just like I have that thisis an invaluable study Aid and the otherthing I want to make sure you understandis that this is not a simple PDF this isa constantly updated page that has anyinformation that is new or anytimevideos are changed really anythingupdated and once you have it you willalways have the latest informationconstantly updated so if you haven'tgotten it already go to the link belowclick on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you and it'sabsolutely free Okay so let's getstarted so we're going to get into asubject where we talk about some ofWhat's called the Polyphonic voicingoptions in the scorebut just before we start that as areminder we've been talking about thescore for quite a few videos and allthose videos are in the navigation guidein the link below but this polyphonicvoicing options brings a lot moreversatility in terms of what happens inthe score and the best way I can try toget this across is to give you a fewexamples so let's start with this I'mgoing to take this simple two bar piecethat I have here in the score and I'mgoing to use my mouse and go to theinsert node option I'm going to go to myextended toolbar and select quarternotes and I'm going to put a few notesin here so if I click and as I click Ican see the little guide on top so I cansee where I can move my note but I'mjust going to stay right with the firstoptions here I'll click and go to thenext option click and go to the nextgrid I'll move my note up and down as Ifeel like and then maybe to the last barhere and then to the last note of themeasure maybe I'll put one more in thenext measure so I have a simple amountof notes HereI'm gonna turn that click off now if Iadd more notes to these like I'm goingto go to this first note and I'm goingto add another noteit becomes part of the original note inother words it's more like a chord hereand if I do that to every other onelet's say I go to here I'll add anotherone there another one here finally alast one at the end here which gives meas you can see both of these notes areon one stem and as you get more advancedinto the score and do more options youwill find that there's advantages tothis and there's some disadvantages tothis because maybe you want a littlemore power in how the notes areseparated or how independent they are sowith that I'm going to call yourattention up to this option up here andthis allows us to insert various voicesand we have up to four different voiceshere the way it is right now only mynumber one is active the number twothree and four are grayed out there'snot an option to put those in there wedon't even know what these do yet buteither way they're not available and wecan only use this number one so I'mgoing to erase all these notes and I'mgoing to go a little further and I'mgoing to go to where it says scores comedown to my settings on the staff Tab andin the tab below that main options andone that says polyphonic and if we lookat the Polyphonic it has a little dropdown here under staff mode with threeoptions once a single one lenses splitand one says polyphonic if I take itfrom the single and I go to thePolyphonic I'm given this screen with abunch of options at this point if I tryto explain them to you they're justgoing to be too confusing and tooinvolved but we're going to take whatthey've given us here I'm going to hitapply and if you look up on the staffwe've now got a kind of what they call asplit staff where we have a treble clefand a bass clef this is typical pianotype score I'm going to close this downas you can see I can make my activestaff the top one on the treble or I canmake my active staff the bottom one onthe base either one notice when I go upto the treble and make it the active oneI now have on my voices the number oneand the number two are active I havethose options that I didn't have beforethree and four are still grayed out whatis number one and number two mean we'regoing to see in a second if I go down tothe bottom staff where we have a bassclef and I click on that making that theactive staff now when I look up at thesevoices it says the number five and itsays the number six and next to thatseven and eight are grayed out sodefinitely some things have come aliveup here on this insert voice option ifI'm up on the treble I got a one and atwo if I'm down on the bass I got a fiveand a six none of these I had beforebefore I only had a number one and thatwas it so now let's do this let's goback to the treble I'm going to make itthe active staff I'm going to hit thisnumber one and then I'm going to insertnotes with my Mouse again just like Idid before so I click somewhere I followthe grid I click another place followthe grid put four quarter notes in therejust like I did beforewhich then play exactly like they didbeforebut now when I go up to this insertvoice I'm going to switch it from numberone to number two and then I'm going toclick in some more notes like I didbeforeI'll put something on the first one andon the second one on the third onefourth one and fifth one I'm gonna playthisnow what has happened here the notes gotentered just like they did before but ifyou look we have a note on top with astem going up and the note on the bottomwith a stem going down and that's whatwe've got on every one of these one witha stem going up one with the stem goingdown if I click on the one let's saythis one here with the stem going up uphere in my active voices it went to thenumber one if I go to the one below itand click it with the stem going down uphere on this toolbar it went to thenumber two so what happens when youswitch into this polyphonic mode is younow have even though you're working onthe staff kind of like you did beforeeach one of these notes kind of take ontheir own independence or as it sayshere an independent voice and theadvantage to this is that as you workwith these notes and you extend them oryou change their length or maybesometime when you change the score tosomething with more sounds when thenotes are split up into independentvoices like this you have more power interms of how things will develop laterdown the line so we're going to do a fewexamples of this until it starts to makemore sense but the first thing you wantto understand is how to turn thePolyphonic voicing on which is done bygoing to your scores and settings goingto your polyphonic Tab and turning thaton where it says polyphonic and thenentering some notes of any value andseeing how we have notes with stemsgoing up and Stems going downand how we now have an active set ofnumbers up here on this insert voicingoption that we didn't have before let metake it just one step further before wemove on I'm gonna go down and activatethis bass clef and now we see I have thenumber five and number six so I'm goingto leave it on number five for a secondand then I'm going to add in some morenotes now adding those notes in let'ssee what we got[Music]and now we have three differentindependent voices again we will see theadvantages as we move forward and whatwe can do with these but we have layersand independent voices up here in thetoolbar that we did not have beforeall right so let's look at some of theoptions that are available right here onthis right Zone as far as when it comesto changing things into this polyphonicmode right now I have this two barphrase[Music]and as you look back up in our voices wehave that same thing as before where weonly have one voice active and two threeand four are grayed out if I come overhere on the right side of the propertiesI have a staff mode drop down and if Iclick on that I have quite a few optionsactually but if I go to the one thatsays piano polyphonic it now creates asplit staff and up here on top we havefour voices activatednow if I click on any one of these notesit still stays on number one because allof these notes are still assigned tothis voice number one but if I takelet's say I take and drag over thebottom area here until I see and bluethese bottom notes have been selected ifI right click on any one of these nodesI have a whole bunch of options and oneof them says move to voice if I clickthat one I have the option to move thesenotes to any one of the available voicesand if I take it to let's say voice twothen it automatically leaves the topnotes with the stems up and it makes thebottom notes with the stems down alsowhen I click on any of the top notes thedisplay up here in the upper right goesback to voice one if I click on any ofthe bottom notes the display up here onthe top left goes to voice two so a lotof operations can be found pretty quicksometimes just with your rightproperties window over here all rightthat's going to wrap it up for today asusual if you haven't grabbed yournavigation guide be sure to grab thatfrom the link below has links to all thecontent on this channel ever growing andfree to use organized in a way to helpyou find what you're looking for quickdownload it today put it in yourfavorites and then use it whenever youneed it today or six months from todaywhenever you get confused aboutsomethingso the Polyphonic voicings there'sdefinitely a lot of power in thisfeature and what we kind of did todaywas lay some of the basic foundation onhow to set it up once we got it going wesaw how the properties window could beused as well as using the settings andthen once we had some voices in there wesaw how we could change them in thedifferent voice assignments as we gofurther along we're going to be able tosee more and more of the advantage ofbeing able to use this polyphonicvoicing optionbut today we just got the basic sconeswe have something to build on as usualit's great to have you guys here I'llsee you in the next video
