hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today we move onto our second video as we continuediscussing the score note and restformatting in Cubase but before we startI want to remind you that there's a linkbelow to the free content navigationguide which is an easy to navigatewebpage with links to all the content onthis channel and besides that in thenear future I'm going to begin addingtips and other bits of information thatwill only be available there you knowthings like simple steps that will getyou started and up and running quickthings that are in the videos but arewritten down in simple steps that serveas quick reminders when you needinformation down the road if you'reworking with programs like wave lab orCubase plugins or the cable guys shaperbox and many many other projects thatare in the works then I know you'regoing to find just like I have that thisis an invaluable study Aid and the otherthing I want to make sure you understandis that this is not a simple PDF this isa constantly updated page that has anyinformation that is new or or anytimevideos are changed really anythingupdated and once you have it you willalways have the latest informationconstantly updated so if you haven'tgotten it already go to the link belowclick on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you and it'sabsolutely free Okay so let's getstarted so we're looking at some ofthese extra options on the notes and therests but in general we've been lookingat the square for quite a few videos nowand all those videos are in thenavigation guide below in order if youwant to check them out but let's look ata couple options when we start dealingwith accidentals if I make sure nothingis selected in the score and I go up tothis extended toolbar and hit the getinfo button that brings up my settingsand if I go to the project and then comedown to accidentals then you can see youhave a whole bunch of options here asfar as accidentals go now if you know abit about music you would know what someof these options are we're not going togo deep into that but let me call yourattention to a couple things for examplelet's say I hit this note right here I'mgoing to click on it and let's say Ichange it up or down until it shows anaccidental in this case a flat this nowis an E flat note if I go go to the nextbar I have an e and it's assumed thatit's a regular e again that it's notflat but you really have no visual tohelp you understand that if you go intothis first option here it says thecourtesy accidental distance you have anoption to change the bars and if I spendthat up to one bar and then I hit applynow for the next bar after my X Dental Iget a natural sign to bring me backunderstanding that that's what that isso you can set that option up if youwant again you have a bunch of radiobuttons for all these different inharmonics another interesting option isyou have an option here that says forceall if I hit that and I hit apply everysingle note gets some kind of accidentalif I go back and hit default and thenhit apply then I get back to my regularview again if the N harmonic displayisn't showing the way you want it on aparticular note or note you have a bunchof options on this quick access toolbarup here so for example if I select a Cnote here and then I come up and hitthis double flat it shows me that notewith a double flat on it there's abutton here that says off that kind ofremoves those in harmonics I can add asharp to it if I want turn it off I havea double sharp if I need it turn it offyou get a little question mark here incase you just want to know what the noteis so this is a c natural but it doesn'tshow C natural but if I hit the questionmark then it actually marks it as a cnatural if you have these in harmonicsyou can hit this parentheses and thenenclosure and harmonics in Bracketsother options for these notes if Iselect these notes we've talked about ifyou go into the properties in the notehead option you can change these intoall kinds of little artistic note headsif you have your color eyes up in yourtoolbar you can select that pick aunique color that you want to color themand then your note heads will alsochange color anytime you need to sendthem back just reselect them hit resetthe default and then everything goesback if you make a bunch of customizedsettings on some notes let's say Iselect these again change the note headsto some unique setting come up andchange the color to something unique andthen I'd like to do the same thing tothese notes below it if I take thesenotes and select them again go to myedit menu and come down hit copy whichyou'd expect is that if I paste itsomewhere I'm just going to paste allthese notes but you have a specialoption if I make a selection over thesenotes and then I right click on thembesides just pasting like you normallycould you have an option that says pastethe attributes by click on that originalno pitches stay intact but then itpasted all those unique colors andshapes on those notes all right let'stalk about beams and more specifically16th note beams as we have in thisexampleright here 16th note beamswe have a couple of options how we wantto see these things displayed let's goup to our scores our settings make surewe're on the staff Tab and then into theoptions Tab and we have a few optionsfor the beams right here so first of alllet's select our notes if I make aselection here and make sure all thesenotes are selected right now they'regrouped in 4 16 or smaller if I rightclick on any one of these nodes I havethe option for the group and the ongroup and one of the grouping options isfor beams if I hit that then I get allthese notes under one beam like this nowif I go over the settings and hit thebeam subgroup and I say apply now youcan see that I have a beam over the topbut I have these little subgroups belowit and you can go a little further ifyou go to 16th subgroups and you hitapply then you get these small littlegroups of 16th notes with the one beamover all of them if I come back and hitdefault on here and hit apply then itcomes back to these kind of 16th notesand ultimately they go up to thisvisibility and make sure that thegrouping is visible and now I hit thegrouping and I hit the backspace thenthat long grouping beam is gone as welllet me show a couple of shortcuts thishas happened on other things and ithappens on notes as well if you click anote hold shift and double click fromthat point on it selects every noteafter that and that's a good thing toknow at the same time if you hit a notehold shift and then use your arrow youcan step through whatever notes you wantto select real quickly as well sometimesthat's better than trying to click anddrag over and make your selections soanyway once I have those notes selectedif I go up and right click on any one ofthem I also have this option for theAuto Group notes and if I do that itputs these eighth notes in these twobeamed kind of groupsif you want to see things without thebeams you can go back to your settingsselect the option that says no beams hitapply then you get this kind ofcrazinessyou can use a time signature to affecthow things are grouped as well say I goover to my time signatures I bring in afour or four times signature and clickit right here if I double click on thistime signature I can change this intoall kinds of you know variationsdepending on what I'm trying to achieveI'm going to go two four two four changethis denominator to a sixteenth note butwhen I hit this option this is forgrouping only allows me to put in anon-usual time signature with differentkinds of groupings so it's anotheroption if you need to try to findsomething particular you can alwaysdelete these time signatures byselecting them and then hitting deleteand asks are you sure you say yes andyou're back to your normal view you haveanother option of how things are groupedactually depending on your click trackoh I have a click track playing normallyat 4 4 right nownow if I go back up to scores andsettings and I go to my project tab downto notation and there's an option thatsays groupings and you have an optionthat says use the click pattern for thegroupings and it's checked or uncheckedmine's checked so I'm going to closethis and right now it shows eighth noteshere if I go back and I actually createa signature trackput a time signature in here say I dosomething kind of unusual put an eightand a 16 basically doubling the time andnow you have this kind of Click patternif I go back to my track and look at ityou can see the eighth notes have beenput into separate buyers 16th notes areall broke up so bottom line is if youchange your click pattern it'll alsochange the way the notes are displayedand grouped all right so once more let'sgroup someone else let's hit this onehere I'm going to hold shift and gothrough my arrows till I reach the pointwhere I want to stop I'm going to rightclick and I'm going to say group thiswith beams and then I get this kind of athing let's say I go over to theseeighth notes I start on this one holdshift arrow through the ones I likeright click hit beam and then I get thisif I make sure grouping is checked I canget rid of them by hitting the groupingword and hitting backspace same thinghit grouping word over here hitbackspace and there it is if you make agrouping of notes let's say these twoeighth notes hold shift in my arrow goup and select the group so it saysgrouping on it making sure that thegrouping filters on you can add theselittle repeat lines if you want if yougo back and right click and go down theoption that says repeat you can then add8 16 32nd whatever it repeats let's goto 30 secondand then you get these kind of likelittle bars this is strictly a visualthing but this is representing repeatinga bunch of these notes and repeating abunch of these notes instead of writingthem all out in little repetitions andthen again when you want to remove thesegroups you either click on them and hitthe backspace or that same shortcutapplies that we've been doing witheverything else if you click on one andthen hold shift and double click itevery other grouping after that isaffected and then if I hit backspacethey're all taken out at the same timeonce you've made these groupings you canactually take notes out of them in caseyou want things to look a certain waylet's say in this grouping here I havethese three notes but then I want thesethree notes so I'm going to hold shiftand arrow throughI want these to be removed out of thegroup so once I select them I can rightclick and it says group slash ungroup soeverything I did I can undo so if I hitbeam now those come out into their owngroups and then you have this asalarando or retardando effect on thesenotes if you want if I go to theseselected eighth notes this time in mygrouping I go to the word salarando eachone of these kind of act differentlythis one goes from 8th to 16th this onegoes from 16th to eighth so if I leaveit on the 8th to 16th and it moves inthis Assad around no display on theother hand if I right click on this dothe same thing click on the accelerandoagain but then go 16th to eighth it'sgoing to go in the other direction forthe retired Dondo all right it's goingto wrap it up for today as always if youhaven't grabbed your navigation guide besure to grab that from the link belowthis video that's your new onlineresource to help you get your answersquick when you need them all theinformation is in order and categorizedinstead of scrolling through a bunch ofplaylists or videos all over the placego there look for the topic you'retrying to figure out click on it andAway you go so we spent some timelooking at our note and rest formattingagain we started off talking about theaccidentals the anti-harmonic shifts wechange the way the note heads look somepaste attributes we got into the beamswe talked about the auto groups and theno beams composite time signatures howyour groups can follow the click patternwe started grouping the notes with thebeams and then repeat the groups wetalked about removing multiple groups wesaw how we could remove groups of notesout of the groups and then we saw theassalaran over todando effects onselected groups of notesso the details are there when you sitdown to create your Masterpiece asalways it's great to have you guys hereon this Learning Journey and I'll seeyou on the next video
