hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudium manual.com today we'regoing to start talking about some extranote and rest formatting options inCubase but before we start I want toremind you that there's a link below tothe free content navigation guide whichis an easy to navigate webpage withlinks to all the content on this channeland besides that in the near future I'mgoing to begin adding tips and otherbits of information that will only beavailable there you know things likesimple steps that will get you startedand up and running quick things that arein the videos but are written down insimple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wave lab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so all this falls under thetopic of the score and we've beentalking about the score for a long timenow you can check out any of theprevious videos in the navigation guidein the link below but let's lead offtoday we're going to talk about movingsome of these stems around there's twobasic ways let's talk about first if yougo to any node in general just doubleclick on it you're going to get a littledialogue about setting the note infothere's all kinds of stuff in here butat the bottom you have an option thatsays stem and if you use that with adrop down you have up and down or Autoauto means makes its own selection butin this case it's going up if I wantedto go down I can hit down hit apply andnow that stem is going downwards anotheroption and I'm getting to use this moreand more and I'm really liking it on theextended toolbar you have a whole bunchof options in this little area righthere and one of those is flipping thestems around it's a little picture oftwo stems going in different directionsif I hit that the stem changesdirections now this works as well withmultiple notes if I select all thesenotes right here and then I hit the flipstem buttonI can change all those stems at one timewhen you select multiple groups of thesestems like this you get this littlepicture that allows you to change thesize of the stem if you want to make itbigger or smaller but anytime you flipit if I go up and hit the flip buttonagain it immediately goes back to itsregular size so if I want to make thatlonger I have to change it again so it'salways recommended if you're going to beflipping stems around flip them firstand then you can lengthen them if youwant to now we haven't talked aboutgrouping that subject is coming up we'regoing to get into a little deeper butfor example if you take a bunch of noteslet's say I'm going to grab all theseright here then I right click on one ofthese notes one of the options I get inthis drop down is about grouping if I goto this group option I have differentways to go with the beam and a celerandoand the brilliant bass I'm going to takethis brilliant bass one get some otheroptions in terms of how I want to groupthem but then I get this bar that goesover the top of these notes now thisdoesn't change how the length of thesenotes are or anything but it gives likea pitcher group of some way in case Iwant to acknowledge that these notes aregrouped in a wayif you have group notes together thosewill all change the same time if you'redoing a stem thing now if I go to thisfirst note of the group and I click onthis and I go up and I flip the stemoption all those stems in that group getflipped at one time so you can also flipthem if they're in these groups now justas a side note to get rid of thesegroups you have another option up thereon this extended bar that says groupingand if I click on that I can then selectthe group option in backspace but beaware of this great option we talkedabout in the last video is you're makingthese kind of changes and you get allkinds of changes going that you reallydon't want and you don't want to sithere and just manually go through allthese changes to get backand maybe your undo history is gonewhatever the reason if you go up to yourscore option again to your reset layoutoption click on that then you can pickthe things that you want to reset youhave all kinds of stuff here but I'mjust going to leave them all checked andwe have one for grouping and for thestems all this stuff and if I check theoption for all the staffs I can corrector get all that stuff back to normalwith one hit so let's do a quick exampleof beams if I take these notes and Idrag over them and then I right click onany one of them choose the option togroup or ungroup and then I go to theoption that says beam then I get thiskind of a thing now what's really greatabout these is you can grab these beamsone end or the otherand move it let's say I drag it down andthen the stems will adjust themselveshowever let's go to this end drag it upa little bit maybeand you can have this kind of a thing soyou can do a lot of things with thesebeamsif you go back up to your visibility andturn grouping on then you can see thisbeam and you can hit grouping and youcan hit backspace and you can remove itand these beams can be adjusted even onthese shorter notes if I hit one side ofthis and change it I can do that you canalso adjust these stems if you go upinto the visibility option and you havean option right here that says stems andbeams if you select that we get ourusual little word down here as a stem ifI click on that and hit backspacethen it takes that slant of that beamand puts it back to normalso you can do a lot of individual notechanging just take a note and doubleclick on it and then you get this optionto set the note info your first optionis the note head you have all kinds ofgraphic options you can change that tolet's pick this one right here and sayapplynow we got this little kind of funnylook there you know I just hit reset andaway we go the scaling changes the sizeof the note if I want to make it smallthere's an option for tablature wehaven't gotten into that so we'll comeback to that there's an option for thebow we can kind of make an up bow symbolor a down bow symbol you have a displaylink for the display quantize of anindividual note so if you start spinningthis up change the length of that noteif you need to you have an option forThe Accidental distance so let's put anaccidental on here like right now I havea flat if I change this I can startspinning this to some different lengthand put it at 10 hit apply Now TheAccidental starts moving away from thenote and then you get all these otheroptions hide The Ledger line or hide thestem hide the tide hide the dot hide theflag or the beam bracket head what abracket head does it puts this littlelike brackets around the actual picturelet me do that hit that hit applyand you get that kind of a thing you canput little X's if you want it to be aspoken word you can hide the note weknow about thatwe can change the stem up or down inthis area if we need to and then we canchange the ties if we want if we wantthe tie going up or we want the tiegoing downright now it's on auto let's make it godownhit applyand we get that kind of thingso I just want to mention you can domore than one note with these propertiesif I select all of these notesand then I can double click on any oneof these notes and that'll still open upthese properties and at that point I canchange any of these properties let's saythe scaling bring it way down hit applyand then all those notes will beaffected so you can do multiple notesanother set of options over here theyhave the type and this is where you canget things like Grace notes you havevarious options in this drop down thetypical one being normal which is whatthese notes are but if I go to thisfirst little note here and select it andthen I come down to the grace noteoption I have four different options forwhat kind of flags are on them if I hitapply I get a tiny little note in frontof this note as a Grace note I can hitthe little cross option here and hitapply and then I get a little slash thatlooks like a Grace note you get theseother notes called cue notes you canselect those hit apply and basicallyit's just a smaller note in front of themain note you get these graphic notesyou can hit those and hit apply and it'sactually it turns into a different colorof the note close to the note and thenonce again over on the right you haveyour properties where if you select yournotes just about every option that wasin that screen is now available overhere on the right you have your reset todefault right at the top you can changeyour stems right there your ties what wejust said about the typeand scaling and what's nice about thisis pretty much everything gets done inreal time on the properties if I go tothe scaling and I start spinning it withmy mouse I can see my notes getting verytiny to the left of it and then if I getlost and I don't know what to do I canhit the reset to default andeverything's back then you have all thecategories below it you want to go tothe note head you can hit that and openit up and then just like that you haveall these little Graphics you can changeit to just by clicking on it and thesechange right in real time so you canactually see everything again you can goback to reset the default and get rightback to normalyou have your extended options belowthat all the hiding options you want tohide the stems and then they get hiddenright as you click on these hide theflags or the beams so many ways thisright property option is just the way togo only disadvantage of the rightproperty option is the minute youunclick your notes it's gone andsometimes you can't find it andsometimes you have to go to yoursettings to get it really in my opinionwhen you ever have the option to use theproperties on the right this is the wayto go because you can just seeeverything update as you go through ityour note symbols below that variousexpression type of options and againreset the default all in all a great setof easy options for adjusting the notesall right that's going to wrap it up fortoday as always if you haven't grabbedyour navigation guide be sure to grabthat from the link below gives youaccess to all the content on thischannel ever growing and free to usecontent is in order categorized andupdated continually hit the link belowthe video download it save it to yourfavorites and then just use it wheneveryou need it so begin talking about thescore note in rest formatting we startedout talking about flipping the notestems we did a little example of whathappens if you group the beams we sawhow the stem and the beam has an optionon the visibility bar we got into alittle more detail of the individualnote info dialogue saw that you can alsodo that with multiple notes and then wealso saw how we can create gray snotesand those kind of things and once againsaw how the properties is pretty muchthe default way to go whenever you havethat option so we have more to cover andwe'll pick it up in the next video asalways it's great to have you guys hereand I'll see you on the next videoforeign
