updated so if you haven'tgotten it already go to the link belowclick on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you and it'sabsolutely free Okay so let's getstarted so we're on our fifth video aswe move along on the subject of thescore and as always previous videos arein the navigation guide and the linkbelow this video but let's start outtoday's discussion looking at whathappens when we open different tracks soas you can see in my example I have fourdifferent staffs open here and each oneof these is a different instrument andthis is determined by what tracks youhighlight or select before you actuallyopen the staff for example if I close usdown and I go down and I only select onetrack and then reopen my score I onlyhave one track in the score if I taketwo tracks and then open The Score backup then I have two tracks in the scoreso this is how you decide how you wantyour score to look in terms of whatinstruments you put in it when you haveyour score open and you go up to yourscores and settings like we've donebeforeand you stay on this staff Tab and anyof these other sub tabs below it you canmake changes per staff and leave thisopen for example let's say I highlightthe active staff for this first one hereand I go down to where it's show thistreble clef down here maybe I spin thisdown to a bass clef and then hit applyit changes this staff to a bass clef andleaves these guys alone let's say I godown to this staff and I select it and Igo down into the staff down here and Ispin this down to some kind of tenorclef or something hit apply and now I'vegot that staff open that way and theother ones are as they were you havevarious options you know you go to thisoptions tab here and let's say I on thisactive staff I go to the one that saysno Beams I select that I hit apply takesthe beams away from those notes but theidea is you can continue to make thesechanges with these settings per trackyou know you have here with yourinstruments really not having to closethis or make any changes that way youjust make your selections hit apply andyou can see in real time time the thingsget updated they do have a presetsoption so if you're doing something alot to every staff all the time you canalways just make a preset and then applythat as you need it one thing we'vetalked about before which is that'sanother example you can select variousnotes hold Ctrl and select various othernotes from another staff at that pointyou could move these notes if you wantor you can delete them or you can useyour mouse wheel to spin and change thepitch on all those notes at once you cango under the symbols tab pick outwhatever you want out of here and thengo over and click it into your staff forexample if I take this Crescendo symboland I go over here and draw it now Ihave that on my staff but many timeswith most of these symbols you can alsocome over here and if you hold the ALTkey before you click it it will put thatsymbol on every staff for you onceyou've clicked the symbol into yourscore you can always go back up on yourinfo line and then change the time of itany way you want like I've said beforeyou have the bar and the beat option sohere's another interesting one weactually have a tool called the layouttool which looks like what we're used toseeing is the comp tool it's like anopen hand if you try to use it or openit up in the typical staff it won't doanything for you but if you go up toyour scores come down and choose theoption that says page mode now if we usethis tool move over to the layout youcan now take things like the clef andmove it around wherever you want you cantake the time signature and move itaround wherever you want you can eventake the bar lines and move them aroundas you want even the rests in the middleeverything is movableif you go to the clef Tab and you startinserting clefs let's say I take thisbass clef and I move it onto the staffand then draw it over here somewhereanytime you add a clef you can rightclick on it and then you have an optionto display it as a small symbol or is itthe same size as the original symbolsfor example look if I go over to thistreble clef which is the same size asthe original one and I right click on itI can now check that and make that asmaller symbolso there's an option and a situationthat occurs when you're putting in clefslater in the song as the song progressesalong here for example if I go to thisbass clef over here in my symbols and Icome to the end of the bar and I draw itin it doesn't draw anything right hereat the end instead it goes to the nextbar where it starts and the way it goeswhich gives you no real warning whenyou're coming along that this clef isgoing to change at the End of This Bargoing into the next so in light of thatthey put this option in here when you goback into the settings in the projectTab and the notation Styles looking downhere the clef options you have an optionthat says warnings for new clefs at linebreaks and if you check that hit applyand now we do the same exact thing I goback and I say I'm going to take thisbass clef and I'm going to come down tothe end of the staff and I'm going todraw it inwhen it does at this time it does theexact same thing in terms of having thecleft change on the next line like itdoes here but it gives you a littlewarning before it comes to the end ofthe line and puts the clef at the end aswell basically giving you a warning atthe line break that hey you're going tohave a different clef when you come tothe next lineso kind of information one thing tounderstandis how much of an effect the displayquantize has on your entering and theediting of your notes and you'redefinitely just going to want toexperiment to see the results on thisbut if we look at this one bar that Ihave here with some 64th note resolutionwhich are you know very fine and you cansee I have all these extra little restsin here basically a lot of little dotsthe minute I go over to my displayquantize and if I go to the rest forexample and I start spinning that backto say 16th notes and I hit applyimmediately anything in the wrist thatwas smaller than a 16th note getsremoved from view let's say I take thisall the way down to a quarter note hitapply the only thing that can be seennow in the rest is a quarter note kindof rest let's say I spin these rest backup to 64th notes again and now I go tomy notes and I spin that down to say a16th note and I hit apply immediately ittakes any of those notes and makes everyeverything smaller than a 16th note getstaken away in fact it puts two notesonto one stem because it can't show itany other way if I move this down to saya quarter note and I hit apply it nowmoves these notes down to only a quarternote and so for example if I removethese notes and I leave my notes overhere on the display setting at a quarternote and I go up here on the displaythat allows me to pick my resolution andI take a 64th note up hereand then I do like I did before with theentering the step with the computerkeyboard if I hold the ALT key and Ihave 64th notes here ready to go butwhen I start hitting enterthe only thing that's going to come intothe displayare quarter notes on the other hand if Igo back over to the display and I bumpthat all the way up to 64th and hitapply now I can see all my 64th notes soit's through experimentation andentering in very simple notes just tosee the difference herebut if you're finding that the notes youtry to put in just aren't showing up theright way it's definitely because thedisplay quantized either on the notes orthe rest is blocking it from visuallyshowing up so you'll want to experimentchanging these quantized values in orderto see the notes that you're enteringcorrectly another thing to experimentwith that's very enlightening if youopen up your midi editor and the lowerscreen and then put your score up hereabove it and then if I select a noteif I watch my midi edited note down herein the bottom screen but in the score Iactually start turning the lengthnumbers up I'm going to put my mouseover it I'm going to start spinning thenumbers up you can see that the scorethe display notes are changing but alsothe midi note below is changing alongwith it I'm going to spin it up a littlebit more put a couple more clicks inthere and every time I spin it my notesin the display are growing and the notedown here in the midi display is growingthere are times where you change thedisplay and it has nothing to do withthe note in the actual midi editor andyou'll be wanting to see that as you getfurther into it as well but to me one ofthe values is when you know that thescore is completely reflecting what'shappening on the midi notes as well I'mgoing to put it over these notes and I'mgoing to reduce the length on it and asI reduce the length the midi note isshrinking as well even if I go smallerthan I started then the note down hereis getting smaller as well all rightit's going to wrap it up for today asusual if you haven't grabbing yournavigation guide be sure to grab havethat from the link below has links toall the content on this channel evergrowing and free to use constantly beingupdatedall the videos are in order and easy tofind just go to the link below thisvideo click on it save it to yourfavorites and use it whenever you getstuck on something so we started outlooking at opening up the tracks and howthe different tracks came into the viewon the score themselves we had to lookat the layout and the layout tool someof the options for changing the clefsize and the warnings you get when youchange the lines with the clef and thenjust some basic troubleshooting in casethe display doesn't look the way weexpectas we continue our journey through thescore learning how to operate it and useit to our benefit as always it's greatto have you guys here I'll see you onthe next video
