italready go to the link below click on itand save it to your favorites it's mygift to you and it's absolutely freeOkay so let's get started so right nowwe're looking at the sample editor andobviously it's one of the main editorsin Cubase I'm going to close out of thisbasically when you're working with audioand you open it up to edit it you'regoing to find yourself in the sampleeditor now you have a few options interms of your preferences and how youopen things up these days many peopleare probably using the lower Zoneespecially if you're on a laptop and youhave a limited space and that gives youthe sample editor down here in the lowerZone me personally I prefer it in astone window I like having all the extraspace to work on even if it's in its ownwindow you can resize it but to decidehow things open up whether it's in thelower zone or the sample editor you goup to edit down to your preferences andlook down for the editors you'll havethese two drop down lists right here andbasically they give you the option toopen it up into a window or in the lowerzone so you just make your choices thereand that's how things will work if youuse it in a window like we're looking athere up on top you're going to have atoolbar we're going to examine all thesebuttons you're going to have an infoline which is typical in Cubase you havean overview up on top so you can movearound quicklyover on the left you have these varioustabs which is considered the inspectorarea when you're working in the lowerZone when you want to see the inspectorthat's over here in the project area nowyou have a ruler up on top which givesyou all kinds of options you have theactual area where the waveform isdisplayed and then over on the right youhave this option for Regions we're goingto discuss regions as we go along ifyou're not seeing some of these areas ifyou go up on the toolbar there's acouple of Gears up here this one gearthat's almost to the end this brings updifferent visibility in the window Ihave everything checked you can decidewhat you want to see or don't see uphere one thing I like to do with all myCubase toolbars if I go up into a blankarea and right click and then go down tothe bottom that says setup you have theoption for hidden items and visibleitems because the toolbar gets so easilyfilled up it's almost confusing tounderstand it I like to take all of myitems starting at the top hold shiftselect the bottom and either hit removeor click and drag them over to thehidden area it doesn't matter which wayso everything is in this hidden itemscategory then I come down to my presetsand I create a preset and I call it nonen-o-n-e hit OK that way I know I canclear my toolbar out here and then if Iwant something I have the option to pickany of these options with any toolbar inCubase you can always come back to theIRA that says reset all and when you dothat you get all your buttons back allyour default buttons but then I caneasily click and go down to the noneoption and clear everything out of thereso let's put a few of these buttons inand learn what they are I'll come downand check the first five of these or soso on the left the first thing we haveis a solo Button as I play this projectin the sample editor I can hear myproject playing in the background butthe minute I hit the solo button then Ionly hear what's in the sample editorthat I'm looking at or working on plusme isolate what I'm working on next upyou have the auto scroll button whenthat's turned on the cursor will alwaysstay on the screen no matter whatnext to that you have the options forthe page scroll the stationary cursor orthe suspend the auto scroll when editingif you have suspend auto scroll on themini maker edit while the cursor ismoving then that cursor view willsuspend if you stop it'll just reenactitself if you haven't changed your keycommands you can hit F to enact orsuspend that option then you have theaudition button if you want to play justwhat you've selected in the sampleeditoror set up an endless loop that waya separate volume for in the sampleeditoryou have all your various tools of rangedraw Zoom the scrub the time warp andthen a play option in case you want touse your Toolbar to just audition thingsforeignthat applies for when you're using thevery audio if the acoustic feedback isoff when you hit the segments you won'thear them with the acoustic feedback onthen you will hear the segmentsyou have a snap to zero Crossing optionwith that turned off you can freely makeany kind of range wherever you want ifyou turn that option on you'll see thatyou can snap only at the zero Crossingpoints if you enact the snap on and offand when you draw on the ruler then youcan only drive your quantize allows ifyou turn the snap off you can drawwherever let's add a few more buttons uphere the grid options quantize musicalmode and musical information so ourfirst button for the grid we have abutton that shows or hides the grid youcan see all the lines that come in youhave the options of your quantize forthe bar the beat use the quantize oradapt to the zoom you have the option toapply your quantization and the kind ofquantization three buttons that go withthe quantize you have the soft quantizeoption the audio warp and then you havesomething that opens up the quantizepanel there's a whole series of videoson quantize the quantize panel in thenavigation guide where I really wentinto detail on all this stuff we may goover some of it still in this video butif you're looking for that kind ofinformation or Clarity on thisdefinitely check those videos out thereare some powerful features in thequantize panel in terms of lining upyour audio making your audio snap to agrid this is definitely one of thehidden things in Cubase if you don'tunderstand it you'll want to look intoit opens up a lot of powerful optionsfor you we have the option to turn themusical mode on or off musical mode iswhat makes your Loop snap to the gridthen you get this option for some of themusical information it makes an estimateof how long your audio event is in thiscase it shows 18 bars and if we countthese amount of buyers it shows we cansee it comes up to 18 bars or the numberof Beats next to it it shows the tempoof the audio file and then you get thesevarious time stretching algorithms we'velooked at these in other videos forexample there's specific ones for drumsthey're the ones for vocals depending onif you do time stretching or what kindof time stretching these can make a bigdifference if you select the right oneall right let's examine this option forzooming you're going to be glad you kindof understand this I'm going to pickthese four events open them up I'm goingto zoom out all the way and up in thetop you can see there's an event startand end and over here on the rightthere's a drop down that allows me topick the different events we have fourdifferent ones opened up in the windowif I go to this option that says zoomand I move to the global Zoom basicallygoing to leave it wherever the zoom isbut it's going to allow me to see thesedifferent events if I go to the next oneyou can see it highlights to the nextone if I go to the next one after thathighlights over here and if I go to thelast one now if I zoom in on this forexample over on this event it staysright where it's at and even though Ichange these different events and itmoves to the different events the screenthat I'm at and the zoom level doesn'tchange on the other hand if I go back tothe zoom and I say give me the clip bassZoom it's going to keep the same Zoombut it's going to always bring the clipinto view for me if I go to the next oneI'm on that one if I switch to theoriginal one I can see that one but itdoesn't really change the zoom leveldoes auto zoom to the event at thispoint it always the full Zoom ofwhatever event we have if I go to mysecond event I can see the start and endmarkers and I can see a full view of theevent you go to the last one I'm zoomedinto that one so if you find yourselfconstantly zooming out trying to pick anevent and zooming in be aware of thislast option that says auto zoom to theevent this will save you a lot of timein finding things in the sample editorthis kind of goes hand in hand with thisother option which is the display modeyou have the option to show the clipsand the events the events or just theclips basically what's going to happenhere is you have these events start andend places if you go to the clips onlythat will remove those out of your viewwhich is a good option sometimes becausethey kind of get in the way if you go tothe events then you can always see themif I switch around my different events Ican see those start and end markersmoving around if I switch to the optionsit says show the clips I'm still movingaround but I no longer can see thosestart and then markers along with thatyou have this clip display mode you havethe option to show all the clips or showonly the active clip when it shows allClips again you get kind of a differentvisual between what's brighter andwhat's dimmer when you go to show theactive clip you get a pretty Starkdifference between what's the active andwhat's not and then again this drop downlist decides which clip is active sothat when you do your editing you'reonly touching the one that's active whenyou're dealing with very audio you havethe option to change the segment ofcolors you have Auto you can go to theevent where the color reflects the eventyou can go to pitch where you getdifferent colors or the scale and chordsand you'll see different colorsdepending on whether you're on the scaleor on the chords you have an option toset up an independent track Loop whathappens when you do that is if I have aloop playing up in my project and I havethis turned off then whatever Loops inthe project Loops down in the editor ifI turn the independent track loop on Ican now draw a separate Loop down in theeditorand that will loop on its own get thiskind of a light blue display which youcan draw down in the editor itself youhave various Zone controls so if I'm inthe lower Zone I can hit this Arrowwhich will then open it up into the fulleditor once I'm in the editor I can hitthe same kind of arrow that will take meback to the lower Zone like we saidbefore there's a setup Windows layout incase some of these windows aren'tvisible and at the end you have a gearto set up all the toolbars which is thesame thing as when you right click on itand that covers all the buttonsavailable on the toolbar and next timewe'll dig in a little more on how toedit in the sample editor window andthat's going to wrap it up for today asalways we haven't grabbed yournavigation guide be sure to grab thatfrom the link below this video it givesyou quick easy access to all the contenton the channel ever growing free to usecontent is in order being updatedcontinually do yourself a favor pick itup add it to your favorites use it whenyou need it stop working so hard attrying to figure out what options dowhat so we began looking at the sampleeditor we basically looked at how toopen the window where it's at in thelower zone or in its own separate editorwindow then we took a brief tour of thetoolbar options and there's a lot ofgreat things up there take a little timeget familiar with all those differentbuttons what they can do a lot of thosethings we've covered in separatesections things like the quantize panelbut we'll get into some more examples ofhow to actually use them in the samplewindow here as we continue to movethrough all the features in Cubase asalways it's great to have you guys hereand I'll see you on the next video
