Markers V2 in Cubase

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today we move onto our second video as we continue todiscuss markers in Cubase but before westart I want to remind you that there'sa link below to the free contentnavigation guide which is an easy tonavigate webpage with links to all thecontent on this channel and besides thatin the near future I'm going to beginadding tips and other bits ofinformation that will only be availablethere you know things like simple stepsthat will get you started and up andrunning quick things that are in thevideos but are written down in simplesteps that serve as quick reminders whenyou need information down the road ifyou're working with programs like wavelab or Cubase plugins or the cable guysshaper Box 2 and many many otherprojects that are in the works then Iknow you're going to find just like Ihave that this is an invaluable studyAid and the other thing I want to makesure you understand is that this is nota simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or any Time videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we're on the second videoof this discussion of markers in Cubaseand previous videos as always or in thenavigation guide in the link below butlet's lead off talking about the linesthat the markers show in the last videowe showed that they are visible in theproject but they're also visible in thekey editor if we go here making surethat we right click on one of the markertracks and go to the option that saysshow the marker lines and make sure it'seither from the active marker trackerfrom all marker tracks I'm going to goahead and put it on all marker tracksjust so we make sure they're there andthen if I go to some kind of midiinstrument I have here and click on itopening it up in the key editor if Ilook over on the tab that says theglobal tracks May making sure that'sopen this has all the things likemarkers and core tracks and those kindof things and the markers I've created Icall them position and cycle and that'swhat it shows here position and cycle itdoesn't necessarily say markers if I'veactually named the track so I'm going togo to the one that says cycle and checkit and that brings up my cycle markersup here on top now when the cyclemarkers or any markers when they line upwith a grid it's not real obviousbecause the grids have lines as well butif I move this marker a little bit offthe grid then you can see the line isobvious right down there in the middlethere's various ways to bring up themarker window in case you want to lookat it for more editing first we would bego up to project and come down to whereit says markers and then you get thisscreen if you haven't changed yourshortcuts it's Ctrl M and down on thetransport there's an option if you rightclick and don't have it it shows markersas wellwhenever you're looking in the markerwindow you can see all the markers inthe list one thing to be aware of oneach marker track there's a little checkmark here on the left which means thisis the active marker track and that'sthe one you're going to see when youstart clicking on these windows to openthem up if I change to this other markertrack and light it up then when I openthe marker window that's the one I'mgoing to see sometimes the settings menuis shut you need to hit the littletriangle to open it up and you havethese the first one says show the markerIDs if I check that then all of a suddenthe numbers show up on the markersthemselves if I put in descriptions likeverse and chorus in this descriptioncolumn these stay visible on the markersno matter what even if I uncheck thisshow the IDS then the next option youhave here says the cycle follows whenlocating so if that's not checked andyou hit the markers then it goes to themarker but it doesn't put the cycleabove it but if I check that now when Ihit the markers it also brings the cycleup in the same area so it's ready to becycled and then this last option sayssync the selection if that's leftunchecked it will go to your markerswhether it's cycle or position but if Icheck it it also does the same thing itgoes to the same marker but now itselects the marker when it goes there inthe project window itself and then welooked at the functions before butthere's an option here in the functionsthat says reassign the position markerIDs or reassign a cycle marker IDs whichis a really good option you will find asyou're setting up markers you may notput them in order when you're in theproject and you're putting in yourmarkers you may click one here and thenone at the end and you never know whenyou're going to be hitting them the nextthing you know you've got marker one atthe end and marker two at the beginningand they're all over the place and evenif you put them in and you say markertwo at the end and marker 7 at thebeginning when you put things in likeVerse Chorus and you name them in thedescriptions the descriptions willalways stay in their place no matterwhat but with this option of reassigningthe number IDs it will reset those IDsand put them in order so then you willhave marker one two three four whateveragain the the words chorus and and versethey'll all stay at where they were butthe markers will now be assigned one twothree four in order if your marker listbecomes very long the guys show up herein this list and I can scroll down onthe right because it's out of view theyhave an option up here that says autoscroll with the project finally enactthat and then as the project plays themarkers will always show and the windowwill scroll as necessary to make surethe markers show upthe marker window you can customize ithowever you want if you want yourposition it one way or you want yourdescription next to your IDs you canjust grab the columns and move them asyou need them you can shrink the columnsor grow them whatever you need to do agreat option is you can sort by thecolumn so if I go to the description andI click on it it's going to sort thatway but if I go to ID and click on it'sgoing to sort that way and these are asusual called the attributes so it showsyou the type or the position thedescription that kind of thing if youclose out of this window and you go toany particular marker track and click onone of the markers the same attributeshow up here on the info line up on topwhich you can click on and you canadjust as you want a nice option formoving through this is you can actuallyhit the Tab Key and it moves throughevery attribute and as you move throughit if you click on one you can also usethe arrows on your keyboard to move itup or down and adjust it that way aswell and you'll see the marker down hereon the bottom adjust in size or whateveryou do to it and another nice featureabout the marker window in general isyour ability to pick your markers andsometimes you don't know how manymarkers you've got so you know for surewhen you're looking at this window andif I hold shift and select I can pickthem all and you have an option toremove the markers with the trash righthere there you go a little bit moreinformation about markers as always ifyou haven't grabbed your navigationguide be sure to grab that before you gohas links to all the content on thechannel ever growing and manyimprovements are coming to the guide alot of things happening in thebackground but eventually you're goingto see easier readability on the manualso with markers play with the markerwindow investigate that and always beaware of a little check mark on themarker tracks themselves that shows theactivate this track so you're aware ofwhat you're editing when you're messingwith them as always great to have youguys here I'll see you on the next video
