today we talk about

Managing Your Sounds in Groove Agent V2

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigital audiom manual.com today we'removing on to our second video as wecontinue discussing managing your soundsin Groove agent SE in Cubase but beforewe start I want to remind you thatthere's a link below to the contentnavigation guide which is an easy tonavigate web page with links to all thecontent on this channel and besides thatin the near future I'm going to beginadding tips and other bits ofinformation that will only be availablethere if you're working with programslike wave laab or qbas plugins or thecable gu shaper box and many many otherprojects that are in the works then Iknow you're going to find just like Ihave that this is an invaluable studyAid and the other thing I want to makesure you understand is that this is nota simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe the link below click on it and saveit to your favorites it's my gift to youokay so let's get started so in thisload panel the whole idea of this areais based on Steinberg's media Baytechnology they have a whole thing builtinto qbase that brings everythingtogether you know all the differentpatterns and whatever in your in youractual project and they made anotherversion of it right in Groove agent hereso the idea that you can pick kits orinstruments or Styles and everythingcomes up you know in tabs andcategorized it's all part of that mediaBay mentality and like we talked aboutin the last video over in the kit slotwhere you can pick a button that sayswhether you load the kit with thepatterns or not you have that sameoption right here on the kits it lookslike it's one little thing but it'sactually two buttons up here if I turnthis kit pattern thing off typically Iwant to load the patterns and the kitsmyself we haven't gotten into actuallyloading in instruments yet those arecoming up but you have a tab fourinstruments and of course it lists allthese possible instruments here theycoincide with these patterns over herethat are listed under the instrument tabagain you have these tabs that sayStyles and midi and these give you youknow all kinds of other options as welland a lot of times if you get externalkits you know from Steinberg it'll comewith some extra Styles and midi patternsas well and then you also have thisbrowser tab which we're going to talkabout in a little bit not right now butgives you access to your computer andpossibly sounds and things you have onyour computer so we've kind of talkedabout filtering the results when you gointo this select content set dropdownand of course you pick a kit like if Igo to laser beams like we been then it'sgoing to show me only stuff in laserbeams if I go to Alan Morgan drums it'sgoing to show me only the stuff in theAlam Morgan drums and that's really goodbut there is a wealth of informationalso in these headings if you look up atthe top of the heading you have thesecategories which you can pick any numberof things some of my favorites if you goto Media go down to the content set thenit shows you which one of these you havein there another one I really like a lotis if you go to media and go to authorit shows you who the people are thatactually compose the different sets thatyou have click on these categories andclick them again to go off of them intothe right of each one of these in thiscase names it shows you how many kitsare available by that particularcomposer producer so the first thing upin this results list that makes adifference up here in the middle youhave what they call content filters andright now I have this third button overlit up that means I'm getting thefactory and the user content in myresults but if I move over to the leftof this I can pick just the factorycontent or in the middle I can pick justuser content or back to where I waswhere it's user and Factory contenttogether we haven't gotten into thedefinition of multis or kits yet butthese icons right next to the contentbuttons you have one that saysmulti-program filter and then after thatit says the program filter and theprogram filter if you look down at thesedrums each one of these has a littleicon that looks like that telling youit's part of the program filters on theother hand there's a button here thatsays multi-program filter and if I clickthat it only shows those we'll bediscussing the difference between multisand kits as we go along these differenttabs have different buttons associatedwith them if I move to the Styles tabnow as I move down into the middle Ihave two little buttons here that's kindof like a drumstick and one looks likekind of like a bongo set and dependingon whether I have those lit up it'sgoing to show me the regular drum Stylesor the percussion Styles or both ifthey're both lit up almost every one ofthese tabs have a rating filter to itmeaning that if you look down herethere's a little slider button and ifyou slide it you can make the ratingshow many stars you want and if you lookdown at the drums in the results likethis one has three stars everywherewhich you can change you can click onthat and add more stars or less Starshowever you want to rate it and theratings do help find things quicker ifyou have things set to five stars andone stars and that kind of thing but youhave this little slider to adjusthowever you want to try to refine thoseresults anytime you think there may bechanges made on your hard drives youknow with your files or whatever youhave a rescan disc right here which whenyou click it then you will get updatedresults of everything you have a littlebutton that helps you uh set up thecolumns down here as you can see there'squite a few columns at the moment but ifI hit this I actually have an option tosay give me none select none and it willtake everything off here except for thename I can also hit it and go say usethe the defaults which will bring itback to its original I can select onethat says all the available and it willput everything that those particularfiles have as far as information inthere you can usually click and dragcolumns around to change their order andthen any of these topics you know youcan put in however you want you have alittle area that shows results so as yougo through your different kits and stuffyou can see how many results areactually available most of these tabshave a search field down here whichallows you to basically put in text ofany kind when it does a search itsearches every single kind of attributeso any of these things Tempo andwhatever you may have in here if youwanted to only go through names there'sa button that specifically says searchnames only and you leave that lit up andif you want to clear the results there'sa clear the result button right therelike we said before these tempos changedepending on your project Tempo and youcan really use any kit at any Tempo butthat being said they were recorded atcertain tempos and you know it's goingto affect certain things in the kitdepending on the tempo so if thatmatters for some reason on your songthey have a Tempo filter when you clickon it it takes into account whateverfilter Temple that you're at like me I'mat 128 right now so it says 128 and thenit gives you plus 10 or plus 20 whateversome some reasonably close approxim towhat your Tempo is already so it'llrestrict what kits you see here butgenerally you can just leave it on anyTempo because every kit is usable at anyTemple and that's going to wrap it upfor today as always if you haven'talready be sure to grab your copy of thedigital audio manual content navigationguide from the link below this videoit's the faster better way to learn andreview pick it up look it over all thedifferent topics that are gathered thereand then you two can get started on yourpath to a better way to learn all thisstuff we continue on looking at managingour sounds today in Groove agent welooked at the load panel the tabs wetalked about filtering the results welooked at the content filters for thefactory and the user program filters welooked at drum percussion Styles ratingsThe rescan button we looked a little bitat the column selections we talked aboutthe search
