Managing Your Sounds in Groove Agent SE V5

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigital audiom manual.com today we moveon to our fifth video as we continuediscussing managing our sounds withGroove agent in qase but before we startI want to remind you that there's a linkbelow to the content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate web pagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there if you'reworking with programs like wave laab orqbas plugins or the guys shaper box andmany many other projects that are in theworks then I know you're going to findjust like I have that this is aninvaluable study Aid and the other thingI want to make sure you understand isthat this is not a simple PDF this is aconstantly updated page that has anyinformation that is new or anytimevideos are changed really anythingupdated and once you have it you willalways have the latest informationconstantly updated so if you haven'tgotten it already go to the link belowclick on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you okay solet's get started let's create a brandnew groove agent so let's right clickover here in the project again look forthe thing that says add instrument trackclick on that make sure in your firstdrop down for the instrument you havethe groove agent SC selected youroutputs can be whatever you want hit addtrack hit the little instrument editbutton on the track itself which shouldbring your groove agent into view goover to the load panel button over herethe little file button on the far rightclick on that which opens our browser upand of the tabs that we have here up onthe top go to the one that says kits sothen next go down to this select contentdrop-down list and in your list of kitsfor our experiments we're going to go tothe one that says beat agent SE kits solet's click on that and we have a listof kits and we're going to just go aheadand take this first one that should sayambience kit 01 double click on that goover over to where on the left where itsays pattern and instrument click on thepattern part and click on the firstpattern make sure that you havesomething playing there take thatpattern grab it and slide it up to yourtrack that says Groove agent and drop itthere and that will insert a midi partinto your track and then we're going toset up a cycle on this midi part noticethat we have up on top here on the leftwe have a button that says pattern andwe have a button that says in instrumentnow a minute ago we took thepattern and put that in our project nowwhen we hit the space bar that patternis being played in the project go overto instrument every instrument that'spart of thatpattern is being played here and theylight up notice down here on the lowerleft the kick every time the kick getshit it whitensup and some other sounds that arehappening here we got a rim shot lookslike and the high hat over here but thebottom line is every instrument that isback in this pattern that's being playedor created is now being playedhere and what we're going to want to dois learn how to change some of theseinstruments now we're going to go overto the tab that says browser which we'veplayed with quite a bit now and I wantyou to try to find this specific folderwe go up to the top you should be ableto see your all mediaif you don't see it remember we savedthat earlier in one of the other lessonsyou should have it saved in yourshortcut drop down there and it says allmedia while you're on the all mediaright click on it and hit that optionthat says collapse tree it should saythis computer VST sound user content goto this VST sound one and hit thatlittle triangle on the left of it andthen move down that list a little bitand you should see Groove agent contenthit the little triangle next to that onthe left scroll down a little bit bitfurther again you should see a folderthat says instrument set Allan Morgansignature drums go ahead and click onthat just to highlight it don'tdoubleclick it or open it up this isjust an example this could just easilybe a folder where you have samples onyour computer go down to where the linebelow slightly on the right where itsays filter by media type this littleasteris picture click on that could saya lot of things here but click on theone that says show samples turns into adifferent little kind of wavy picturethere now go over to the left and lookfor the little Eyeglass and click onthat that stands for search thesubfolders and at this point you'regoing to get a whole bunch of differentresults down here that are varioussounds that come in that Allan Morganpack we want to refine it a littlefurther we're going to mess with justthe kicks for now so go up to this fieldwhich is a text field click on it withyour mouse and then type in the wordkick now hit your Enter key on yourkeyboard and that's going to filter outeverything in that list except forsomething that has the word kick in itnow we're going to look down at thispre-list thing down here on the bottomright and we've messed with this alittle bit as we move along this we havea play a stop a pause but then we havethis pre-list in place button we want toclick on that make sure that's lit up itshould be mine is yellow yours should beyellow as well but there's a speciallittle triangle above that if you clickthat little triangle you have twooptions you have one that says Auto andyou have one that says always I want youto go make sure that you're on the onethat says Auto the difference betweenAuto and always is auto is only going toplay when we're actually playing OurSong and always is going to happen ifyou were to use that anytime you click asample beyond that I want you to keepmoving over there's another one thatsays Loop playback don't worry aboutthat but now the important button at thevery end and this stands for replace padfocused sample click on that guy untilit shows again a little picture of awave if it's showing no color and alittle box you got to click it again itshould show some color and a littlepicture of a wave now the importantPoint get this point there's a termcalled the focused sample or the focusedpad these are things that are going tocome up over and over again and thatterm focused is going to play play avery important part when we go back overto our left side and we have up here thepattern and theinstrument when I go down here to thesepads and I click on one I hear the soundthat's in thatpad and when I hit it a little yellowborder comes around that pad that meansthat is the focus that's getting thefocus and that's very important becausewhere the focus is is where the actionis that's where things are going tochange if you don't have Focus you haveno option to change another thing youmight want to observe at this pointagain we're just kind of messing aroundand getting it familiar with this stuffbut look up in this display every time Ihit a focus of a new pad I get a newpicture drawn up here that shows thewave that's in thatpad so every pad has a different littlepicture toit now here's where the fun starts Iwant you to go ahead and hit your spacebar so that we have the sound playing inthebackground and we're going to put thefocus on this very first pad here downhere on the lower left which is a kickand it's lighting up every time ourlittle pattern hits the kick now becausethis has the focus the little yellowborder around it what's going to happenis every time we click on a sample overhere it's going to change to this newsample whatever was here is going to nowchange to what's over here for examplewatch I'm going to hit this firstone the kick has now changed to this newsample let me hit another one down thelist heresomewhere that's prettyobvious let me hit another one down heresomewhere okay you can even use your upand down arrows to quickly move throughthemeither way you you have the option nowto quickly experiment and you knowaudition differentsamples over yourkick nothing is permanently written onhere yet until you do one of about threedifferent things when this when you're schanging these samples it doesn'tpermanently run write it into this padyet until you either double click on thesample or right as you change it hityour enter key or hit the letter L soeither double click on it hit your Enterkey or hit the letter L and thatpermanently writes it in place otherwiseit's simply a matter of auditioningyou're not really writing anything inplace this isstill the original pad the originalsound and the minute I stop you knowplaying things and just click on it itgoes go right back to the original soundso I'm going to hit the pattern with myspace bar and I'm going to mess aroundtill I find a interestingkick that'sinteresting now I'm just going to goahead and double click onit that kick is now permanently writtenon that pad I'm going to go up to thisthing that says the rim which is rightabove it I'm going to make that thefocuspad by the minute I click on it thatbecomes the Focus rightnow I'm going to go back over on theright to where this text thing is hereI'm going to click on that space and I'mgoing to type in the word snare I hitenter when I do that it does a searchfor possible snaresounds now since we have the focus all Ihave to do is click on one let's clickonone and it instantly changes thatpad see that let me try the other oneand the last onehere totally crazy right let's go backto this firstone now I'm going to double click on itto set it inplace and there it is and that's how youcan audition and change sounds on someof your instrument pads so have some funwith that and we'll move on to more nexttime as always if you haven't already besure to grab your copy of the digitalaudio manual content navigation guidefrom the link below this video it is isthe faster better way to learn a reviewpick it up look it over all thedifferent topics that are gathered thereand then you two can get started on yourpath to a better way to learn all thisstuff as we continue learning aboutGroove agent SE we began with a littlereview of creating a Groove agent andloading a kit we took a pattern into theproject looking at the differencebetween the pattern and the instrumentpads we started looking at the browseragain in more detail we filtered some ofthe media types we got into thepre-listen in place talked about theauto and the always option we got into adiscussion of what the focus sample isand how to replace that Focus sample andwe learned how to lock those samples inplace by double clicking hitting enteror hitting the L key and we willcontinue to move through all thesefeatures and functions in qase as alwaysit's great to have you guys here andI'll see you on the nextvideo
