Intro to The Master Rig in Wavelab Pro

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today let's beginhaving a look at the master rig inwavelab Pro but before we start I wantto remind you that there's a link belowto the free content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate webpagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there you know thingslike simple steps that will get youstarted and up and running quick thingsthat are in the videos but are writtendown in simple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wavelab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started all right so what can we sayabout the master rig what we can say isit's a great piece of equipment and it'salready included in another great pieceof equipment in wavelab and so when youwant to get to the master rig typicallylet me shut this first one down that Ihave you just go to any effect insertarea right click go down to theSteinberg category and down to themastering and then over and you'll findthe master rig and it opens up typicallywith the EQ in place one module and thisis how Mastery works with modules if youlook up on the top you can add more youclick on this add module and Away you goyou just start picking the modules youwant and every time you click it you canadd another one and you can add up toeight of theseyou have to seriously wonder if somebodyactually uses eight modules in masteringbut there you are you have that optiononce you have them you actually can takethem and drag them around in any orderyou want just click on them and movethem around and then you have the optionwhen you're actually on a module andhave actually made some changes let'ssay this EQ we've put in some differentcurve changes here these are then savedas a scene over here on the left and ifI go down to the next scene I can startall over again and make a differentarrangement of different curvesdifferent how I want and then I have theother scene I can go back to and compareit and I can switch back and forthbetween the different scenes and I havefour of those options if I have a scenethat I kind of like but I want to justmake some variations I can go down andhit copy and then I can hit any of theother scenes and that's copied to thatscene and then I can make changes slightchanges to that if I want and then I caneasily compare the two on the rightthere's a reset button if you want toerase your scenessome of these modules like thecompressors you can change the gain bydragging this little graph up or down oryou can change the actual frequency ofit by clicking on the left or the rightside of it you can actually grab thefrequency in general and move it aroundas you're making changes like if I'm onthis compressor and I go to this knobright here and I turn it up or down itchanges just this knob up or down but Ihave some options up on top to link thedifferent parameters and if I hit thisABS which stands for absolute so then ifI move a knob like this one stands forthreshold and there's four differentthresholds here so if I move this onethreshold all four thresholds move if Igo to this ratio instead of turning oneratio all four ratios will move if Ichange it from absolute to relativethen they'll kind of move relativelymeaning that if one of them is a littlelower than the other then it will stay alittle lower than the other as I movethe other ones around you have an optionwith a little speaker here that allowsyou to basically solo what you'relistening to so example if I turn thatonand then I click on something that I'mworking on particular frequency then Ihear just that frequency and if I changeitI can hear that exact frequency and whatchanges I'm doingyou have a range of global settings if Igo to this little gear and I hit thisgear then you can see these options uphereand right now you see this moving linethat's the Spectrum if I uncheck thatthat goes awayso I can have the Spectrum or not haveit as the Spectrum moves it also givesyou the option to have a peak hole downthere where it kind of freezes theaverages above it if you don't want thatyou can turn it off if you want to seethe graph in two channels instead of oneit makes a very small split into thegraph if I go over to this EQ area toshow the curve I can take the curveright out of it so I only see theSpectrum I can fill the curve or not asfar as color goeson the far right you have a meter toshow you what the peak and RMS valuesare and if you go back to the left andcheck this aes17 it takes everythingdown by three decibels when you'relooking at this peak irms meter if youwant to reset them just click on any ofthese and it resets the values re-hitthis gear to get back from settings backto the regular display some of thesemodules have a side chain option down atthe bottom there's a little SC if youclick on that you get more informationthe first button actually turns theseside chains on or off you have a buttonover here to change the frequency of theside chain on the right you can changethe Q value if there's somethinghappening you can hit the listen buttonand hear only the side chain we'llexplore these in more detail once westart looking at and using the modulesand then the other thing is some ofthese modules there's two of them forexample there's two compressors and twoequalizers and some of them are only onelike the imager and the limiter the onesthat are two are identical but it justgives you the option to use twodifferent equalizers in the chain eachmodule you can solo it towards thebottom here you can turn the module onand off and you can remove it with thislittle X which asks you to confirm it byremoving it all right it's going to wrapit up for today as always if you haven'tgrabbed your navigation guide be sure tograb that from the link below this videogives you a quick easy access to all thecontent ever growing free to use contentis in order updated continually save youa lot of time when you can just seeeverything demonstrated in real time sothe master rig it's been a while sinceI've come on here and shown a couple ofthings that I do with the master rig ispretty much where I started when Istarted making videos and it's funny forme to look back now because when Istarted nobody was talking about wavelabwell we all know that's kind of changednow we have more than a few voices outthere speaking up I think it's all goodbut everybody has a differentperspective I can tell you that my jobis to try to help those that are justconfused the way I've been many times soif I can bring some understanding andlight to the situation well I'm going tocontinue to do that as we move lowerdown all these subjects it's great tohave you guys here and I'll see you onthe next video
