hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigital audiom manual.com today let'slook at and install this free qbas 13trial that is now available and let'ssee what kind of excitement and possibleperils are waiting for us as we go downthis path but before we start I want toremind you that there's a link below tothe content navigation guide which is aneasy to navigate web page with links toall the content on this channel andbesides that in the near future I'mgoing to begin adding tips and otherbits of information that will only beavailable there if you're working withprograms like wave laab or qbas pluginsor the cable gu shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos are Changreally anything updated and once youhave it you will always have the latestinformation constantly updated so if youhaven't gotten it already go to the linkbelow click on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you okay solet's get started so q 13 has been outfor a little while now I haven't jumpedon it right away like I sometimes do buta few things are starting to happen I'mgetting a couple of Errors when I openedmy program I've tried a couple of thingsto troubleshoot it and now they've madethis qbase 13 trial available for freeto test it out so I'm saying why notlet's try it let's put it on the systemit's probably not going to fix the issuebut hey we may get lucky and at the sametime we can see what's available hereand what everybody's in for when westart to download this thing one of thefirst things I was concerned about thatI want to know that I'm going to be okayif I download this new update how muchspace is it going to take my hard drivesare starting to get pretty full thesedays so I actually made a little picturehere of what kind of space I haveavailable and I'm going to keep track ofthis after the installation and then I'mgoing to report to you exactly how muchspace was required for this fullinstallation now the first thing I wantto show you is one of those littlehurdles that you're going to hit thatisn't being explained and I just foundout and I want to let you know beforeyou find out the same way I did rightnow I'm looking at the Hub in my currentqbase 12 and it's showing the new qbase13 trial is out now so if you're curiousand I'm curious and we want to see weclick on this we're basically taking tothis advertisement page that lets usknow we can try qbase 13 for 60 days getall the functionscompletely free so why not as we lookdown our list it says try qbase Pro ortry qbas elements I'll be going for thepro version so I click on this and thenext thing it does is it takes me to theSteinberg site now if you've never seenthis before if you're new to this wholeSteinberg thing one of the things you'retypically going to do is create what'scalled a my Steinberg site where you'llhave your own login email password andyou'll be able to go here and check forupdates or if you have issues you cancome here but your licenses and anythingpertinent to your account is stored onthis my Steinberg site if you don't havea my Steinberg site it's going to askyou to create an account if you'vealready got one like I do simply log inbut what they're not telling you this isthe thing I want to let you know Iassume that when I logged in here I'mjust kind of looking around I'm stillmaking up my mind but I haven'tcommitted to anything yet well let metell you the minute you sign in here andyou successfully log in you've justbegun your 60-day trial whether youdecided to actually do that or not so beaware the clock is ticking from theminute you sign in and let me show youhow that all came about I'm going to goahead and log in like I would as acustomer put all my login credentials inthere then it comes to this screen thatsays get started it's basically tellingyou that you need to download What'scalled the Steinberg download assistantand again this is a program that housesall the Steinberg products it's aseparate program that you'll have onyour computer it shows your updatesprograms that you may want to installall that kind of stuff and what thisscreen is telling you do you need it forfor Windows or you need it for Mac wellI've already got the Steinberg downloadassistant on my computer so I didn'tneed to really download anything herebut if I didn't have it I would go aheadand download it but again I didn'trealize that the minute I logged in Ialready started my trial there was noclaimer that let me know that ahead oftime let me share with you what happenednext so I close out of qbas and I'm backto my desktop and I have my Steinbergdownload assistant up here as an iconI'm going to click on that and thislaunches the Steinberg downloadassistant and it begins to open theinterface and my opens up with aparticular tab over here that says myproduct downloads and it has my qbase 12that I've already got in here and itshows some older versions of qas that Ihave but as I was browsing through thisbecause I always like to just kind oflook things over I go down the list andin my products I see qbase Pro 13 andI'm thinking well why is that in therejust for the heck of it I go down to theqbase category click on that and againthat shows all the different variationsof qbas and there's many of them there'selements and artists and all thesedifferent variations and there's quite afew older versions of qbas stillavailable you can go to 12 and 10 evengoes all the way down to 9.5 there'sstill some older qbase available therebut either way now I go back up to myproduct downloads and I click on theoption that says qbase Pro 13 and ifyou've ever gone through this before oryou've never gone through this before onthe right you're going to get this hugelong list of all the various things thatare going to get downloaded and some ofthem are optional when you download thenew program the very top you get thepath where it's going to get downloadedAs you move over there's a little threedots this actually opens the folder youcan see what folder it's going to getdownloaded into and I always recommendand I've said this over and over againin the last video I made like this takethe defaults don't be trying to changeall your paths or load your sounds inthe different hard drives on the initialinstallation Steinberg has a librarymanager makes it super easy to move yourfiles after the fact many of you I knowjust don't like that option but if thereis one common frustration I have heardover and over again from people peopletrying to download the Steinbergproducts it's that they can't find thefiles the files went in the wrong placejust headache and problem after problemdon't do it I'm telling you don't do itput the files in their default locationsand then later decide if you need tochange things around now with all thatbeing said I can go through this one byone if I want and install each littlething or download each little thing butthey've put an option up here at the topthat says install all of it and if I hitthe right arrow I've also got some otheroptions one says download All Pause allcontinue or cancel what I'm going to dofor our video just so we can see whathappens here because as I look down thelist there's some things that saydownload and there's some things thatsay install well the first thing I'mgoing to do is hit this download listand hit the option that says downloadall of it then I'm going to come backand I'm going to say install all of itand I'm not going to change anything I'mnot going to try to adjust anything orchange locations or anything like thatI'm just going to let the program do itsthing and then we'll see what happensnow before I begin this I want to callyour attention to something because I'mtelling you that once you see this qbasePro thing here you've already startedyour 60-day trial even though you maynot have checked anything that says yesI want to start or done any kind ofofficial download if I go over to myemail program and I open it up Ireceived an email fromSteinberg that tells me thank you forregistering for the free qbase I'm allgood with that and then it says whichyou can use for 60 days from todaymeaning you've already started yourtrial so I guess that was probably thebiggest motivation for me to want tomake this video so that you know thatfrom the point where you register oreven begin to check things out You'started your trial so you don't want towaste that 60 days if you're going toactually evaluate the product all rightso all the disclaimer out of the way I'mgoing to close this down and I'm goingto begin the process and say downloadall I'm getting a little confirmationI'm going to say yes s and I'm getting alot of things that say wait for downloador I can see that there's certaindownloads in progress when thiscompletes I'll move on to the next steplet me mention this as well typicallythere's not an issue to have differentversions of qbase on your system so if Igo forward with this and ultimately Idecide I don't want to upgrade to qbase13 it's usually not a problem to havemultiple versions of qbase on my systemany times I've had qbas 91 whateverversion of qbase I have at the momentbut again if there's an issue I'llreport it to you one of the things tomention too curious to see how muchspace all this takes up if you go downthis list of all this different softwarejust the iconica sketch that's 4 gigs onits own The Verve piano here that's 8gigs so you really don't want todownload this if you have a half a gigleft on your hard drive other thing I'llmention while this is downloading andwe're waiting there's an option we can'treally do it now because everythingGrays out when this downloads inprogress but there's a tab up here thatsays updates and for me it had a littlered dot next to it turns out that reddot is telling me I have a lot ofsoftware that needs to be updated or atleast has some optional updates and Iwas looking through that list and manyof my sounds and just things in theproduct list I have from Steinberg allhave multiple available updates I didn'twant to go down that rabbit hole so I'mgoing to save that for another time butbe aware when you're looking into thismay want to take a moment and see if youhave any updates available to you aswell all right so it's completed itsdownload and anytime it does that if youlook down the list now everything is agreen bar and there's a lot of contentI'm not going to go through and counthow many different things are here butthere's a lot of stuff as usual with anyqbase version I want to do though is seewhat kind of impact this has had on mydisc space so I had 150 gigs on my harddrive available space and now it's downto 126 so downloading these files took24 gigs and actually that's not reallybad some of this may just be installfiles which we may find we can removeafter the installation is done but nomatter how you look at it 24 gigs forall of this stuff I find that prettymanageable I was expecting expectingsomething more in the area of about 100or more so let's proceed on I'm going togo ahead and hit the download this tookat least 10 minutes may have taken evenlonger I did walk away but I know ittook at least 10 minutes we have a readme file here before we go any furtherlet's see if there's something importantin the read me file so I'm going to openthat up this just gives us some releasenotes but a lot of nice links alreadybuilt in here this would be somethingworth keeping but nothing reallypertinent to us installing so I'm goingto go ahead and install the software andagain I'm just going to hit the installall button you're not going to make anykind of changes and where things go whatthe defaults are I'm going to let theSteinberg installer do all the work herewe go and again we get some options thatsay waiting for instructions or waitingfor the installation some things are inaction already some things look likethey've already been installed we'll letit just do its thing here for me it'sdownloading Microsoft's visual anotherthing to notice right now currently withmy version that we're getting here it'sat13.0.25 finished installing thatMicrosoft Visual maybe I'll get luckyand that'll fix the bug I've beenexperiencing all right it's finishedinstalling cuase now it's moving on tospectral layers all right so it'sfinished installing everythingeverything's got a green light here fromthe beginning to the end before I closethis and actually try to open theprogram let's see what hard this spacewe've used again so interestinglycontent on another hard drive and thisinstaller automatically recognize thatsome of this content actually got put onthat second hard drive approximately 6gigs of extra content got put on thatextra hard drive the content on myoriginal hard drive has gone back up alittle bit by about 4 gigs so all in allnot a huge amount of extra spacerequired if you have 30 gigs of spaceeither way you're going to be prettygood it looks like to me so let's closethis down and see what we have I don'tsee any extra icon for qbas 13 maybe I'mjust not seeing it on my desktop herelet's go to the program it is here inthe Recently Added so I'm going to startitup checking the licenses gettingsettings from the previous programimporting Factory presets now it'sstarting to move through pretty quickhere scanning the vst3 plugins and herewe are at the Hub let's load upsomething real basic here and here weare in qbase 13 it opened up with noproblem let's open the lower Zone seethat the mixer has that new update to itlet's go over to the media the loops andsamples it's taking some time to refreshitself I see a lot of the usual thingsand I see some new things so before wewrap this up I have to admit the onething I'm the most curious about formyselfis to get a look at this iconica sketchso let's load up a track go to ourinstrument it doesn't show anything interms of the iconica but I have toassume that's in the Helen let's goahead and load in Helen Helen Sonic 7 asI look down the programs I can see righthere ionic a sketch so I'm going toclick on that let's go right to theviolins one and see what we have hasarticulations right here in front of uslet's go to sustain well there weare I will definitely beg for someexploration so there we we are we had asuccessful installation of qbas 13 andnow we have 59 days to continue toexplore it let's see where we go fromhere and that's going to wrap it up asalways if you haven't already
