Batch Processing V5 in Wavelab Pro
hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today we're goingto talk about some of the monopassplugins in the batch processor inwavelab Pro but before we start I wantto remind you that there's a link belowto the free content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate webpagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there you know thingslike simple steps that will get youstarted and up and running quick thingsthat are in the videos but are writtendown in simple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wavelab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything updated and onceyou have it you will always have thelatest information constantly updated soif you haven't gotten it already go tothe link below click on it and save itto your favorites it's my gift to youand it's absolutely free Okay so let'sget started so we've been talking aboutthe batch processor in wavelab for quitea while now and all the previous videosas always with videos on this channelare in the navigation guide in the linkbelow and in the previous videos we'vegone through pretty much everything upon the toolbar we've looked at this areawhere you add your plugins at we'velooked at all the various menus andoptions and context menus on these filesthat we add into the batch processor andwe got into some pretty deep discussionson the various outputs here but beforewe go any further I wanted to take aminute and kind of look at some of thevarious processes that are availablehere in the plug-in chain window I'mgoing to clear this out and hit removeall and if I hit the plus sign we getthis window of plugins which again givesyou master section plug plugins and allthese other things but one of thecategories here says the monopassplugins when you click on that tabyou're given a choice of various pluginsnow I assume most of these are going tobe the same for anybody that has wavelabbut that may or may not be true butwe're going to go through some of thesethat we have here if not all of them andthe first one up on the list is calledthe resizer if I double click on thatI'm now given this option in the listhere and if I double click on that itthen opens up this plugin for theresizer and the concept on this littleplug-in is basically that you can decidehow long you want your You Know audiofiles to be so again the picture beingworth a thousand words let me open upwhat I have I got these three files herethat I'm going to process if I rightclick on it we've talked about this I'mgoing to open it up in the defaultapplication which basically allows me topreview it and I can see that this fileis 16 seconds long if I go to the firstone it's 17 seconds if I go to themiddle one is 19 seconds now let's say Iwant each one of these to be at exactly10 seconds so I'm going to close thisdown if I go to my resizer you can do itone of two ways you can take this sliderand you can move it back and forth but Ifind the easiest way is just click onthis number here then you can type inwhatever you need now the display valuereads in milliseconds so if I want anexact amount of 10 seconds I actuallyhave to type in 10 000. so if I hit thenumber ten thousand here one zero andthen three more zerosand hit OK this hasn't even hardly moveda little slider at all I'm going toclose this window down and I'm going torun the process so if I hit run thisruns my processes all the little greendots show up and now I can hear theresults by going over in the output areaand I can right click on any one ofthese files if I go to the last one ittypically previews all three of them forme so I'm going to say play this in thedefault application and now the countersays exactly 10 seconds let me play thefirst file10 secondsmiddle file 10 seconds did a beautifuljob of making every one of them exactlythe same so if you need you know anexact amount that's a perfect littleplug-in for that all right next up let'shave a look at this one we have anoption here for an audio analyzer I'mgoing to grab that and drag it in let'sopen it up and lo and behold we have acomplete an analysis here which again isone of my favorite things that wavelabcan do we can check or uncheck thesevarious things that we want and thisparticular one is going to give me thesample rate the channels the bit depththe digital Peaks and the true Peaks ithas a section for the loudness so I cancheck whether I want the integrated orthe short term or the momentary I'mgoing to take the integrated and theshort term and the loudness range I havean option for the balance or the DCoffset and then for the output I canhave it create a single file for eachsong that I have here or each piece ofaudio or I can have everything mergedinto one Global file I can check theoption to have it opened at the end ofthe product process and then I candecide to have in what kind of format doI want it to print out because I wantedan HTML or Adobe PDF do I want it as aspreadsheet let's leave it at HTML butwhat a great set of options I meanconstantly I'm you know making analysisof files and I have to do it one at atime this is an amazing option herelet's go ahead and say okay I'm going tohit start to run my processes on thesethree filesis completed it in a second it's goingto open it and there we go and just likethat I now have a file that I can lookat I can make comparisons I can see thesample rate of each file I can see howthey compare on the integrated loudnessof each file I can see the variousshort-term minimum and maximum amounts Imean what a fantastic tool this one isdefinitely worth taking the time tocheck it out and get familiar with itall right let's do another one let'slook at this one that says the audioinjector let me bring some more filesback into my processor now the audioinjector gives you the option to add afile at the beginning and or the end ofyour audio so what I'm going to do is Iadd a little reverse symbol coming intothe song and then a crash happening atthe end of the song so I got to navigateand find the file first let me find thereverse fileI have to navigate through my Explorertill I find the file I'm looking forhere's a reverse symbol I'm going toclick on it and these can be no longerthan 60 seconds although you know aminute is a fairly long time anyway nowlet's put one at the end here same thingI have to navigate to find it right hereclick on it now I also have the optionto add a little CrossFit if I want I canpick a different curve if I need to Ican pick how many milliseconds I'm justgoing to keep it at 20 milliseconds tothe default here say okay let's go aheadand add the resizer in here as wellI'm going to move that up because I wantthat to happen first set it at 10 000because I want it to be 10 seconds andlet's go ahead and run this and see whatit doesnow I'm going to right click and openthis up in my default application andpreview it I'm just going to listen tothe beginnings where the symbol comes inon each one[Music]and just like thatall right let's look at this one thatsays Time Stretch now this one has a lotof options we're not going to dig intoall of these parameters at this pointbut let's look at two presets here if wego down to the factory presets we haveone that says the big slowdown or onethat says hurry up if I hit the big slowdown the target stretch areas changes to200 percent and if I go to the hurry upit changes to 50 percent so this showsyou this is your main parameter when youwant to change it from slow to fast whatpercentage you're going to set this atlet's go ahead and say okay to the hurryup let's run the process on our threefiles and then let's audition and hearwhat we haveso everything is in fast motion nowwhere I would see something like thisbeing useful you know how you hear thepharmaceutical companies doingadvertisement and at the end the guystarts talking really fast this wouldprobably be perfect for something likethat getting all the disclaimers in atthe last part of the ad now the next onewe have here the trimmer and there's noreason to really run the trimmer becauseit's the exact same thing as the resizerwe just did a little bit ago differenceshere we can pick it up from thebeginning or the end of the file whereasthe resizer only takes it from the endof the file same thing though it stillapplies in milliseconds so for exampleif you wanted to take 10 seconds off thebeginning you type in 10 000 here thenext one to look at here we have a fadein now this is only fade in becausethere is a fade out but that's in thismulti-pass plugins which we'll look atthose coming up but if we go to the fadein again no real reason to run this weknow what a fade in sounds like but wecan pick the fade in type we want of thecurve the durationsay okay and then if we run it all ofour files will have a fade in it's worthnoting that on the fade in you also havethe option to set the gain so if youwant something different than justregular zero DB you can put that here aswell next up let's look at pitchcorrection again the pitch correctiondoes have a few extra options here we'renot going to go into real depth ordetail on this suffice to say you havethe option of semitones to just pitch itup one two three whatever you want orthen the cents give you the variationsin the in the middle you do have allthese options for whether you want ithigh quality or monophonic or speechagain we're not going to run tests onall these right now you want to favorthe duration or favor the pitch and youdo have an option to correct theformants in the preset area on this oneyou have an option to do a quick one upor one down if you want it if you'reusing pitch correction on songs like Ihave here probably not going to give yousome useful result on the other hand ifyou have a whole bunch of Base samplesor something like that you want to runthem all up to a certain pitch thiswould be the perfect utility for that sothis next one is fairly interesting itsays delay the next process or ratherdelay the next process activation and ifwe open this up we have a similar thinglike the resizer and the other things wehad where we have a slider inmilliseconds and what this does is itactually delays how long before the nextprocess we put in the chain here comesinto effect so for example if I had aReverb on this next one maybe a Reverbfrom my master section plugins set thisto 100 percent wet and then I take somevocal samples like this[Music]dry right now unless am I delayprocessing I set the delay to not comein to like for 100 milliseconds and thenmaybe I'll put a little cross feed on of100 milliseconds then I'll run the batchon these two files and now I'll get thiskind of effect where the Reverb getsbrought in gradually something like thisday after daycould be useful for many things okay forthis last one which is really a nicelittle plug-in let's bring a song downinto the batch processor and go over toour plugins in our monopass and let'shave this thing called the audio mixerand what this allows us to do let's openit up is it basically allows us to put awatermark on our song I'm going to closethis back down for a minute let's listento what I have here this little piece ofsong here and right now there's nowatermark the song is just playing andwhat I mean by Watermark is what I'mgoing to put something in here that saysWatermark which basically protects thesong in case I don't want it to bedownloaded by somebody withoutprotection on it so going back to ourplugin and the one thing you have to payattention when you do this make surethat all your files are at the same bitrate I tried this with a 44 1 and a 48Hertz file and it told me they wereinvalid so you have to make sure thatthe files match up the other thing iswhatever you bring in here for thewatermark you have to make it sure it'sless than 30 seconds which should befine so I'm going to browse to find afile have something saved right here I'mgoing to click it so I can have it startwherever I want a zero or any other timeincrement and just play one time or Ican have it repeat every so many secondswhich is typically what you do withsomething like this typically I'd haveit at about 10 seconds but I'm going tospin this down to five seconds so we canreally hear it so this is going torepeat every five seconds throughoutthis full file here let's add it inlet's run the badge processor I can seeI have my little green circle filled inso now when I audition the file I havethiswatermarkand it'll just keep doing thatthroughout the file[Music]what if you've ever submitted songs onvarious sites you know exactly what thisis all about so there's a realconvenient way to add something likethat into your fileall right it's gonna wrap it up fortoday as usual if you haven't grabbedyour navigation guide be sure to grabthat from the link below this videogives you access to all the content onthis channel ever growing and free touse content is in order and categorizedand is there to help you have a betterlearning experience when it comes tofiguring out most of this stuff so wehad a little look at the monopassplugins we had a look at the resizer theaudio injector we had a look at timestretching and the trimmer we looked atthe fade in we had a look at the audioanalyzer and the pitch correction thedelay next process then we finished offlooking at the audio mixer so you canadd watermarks into your audio just allkinds of great stuff and really so muchfun when you know exactly how to usethis stuff which in my opinion isprobably the main point of doing it alland we will continue this discussionbecause there's more to go and we willcover everything we can about the batchprocessor as we continue to learn aboutwavelab as always great to have you guyshere now see you on the next video
