Batch Processing V4 in Wavelab Pro
hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today we continuediscussing the batch processor inwavelab Pro but before we start I wantto remind you that there's a link belowto the free content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate webpagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there you know thingslike simple steps that will get youstarted and up and running quick thingsthat are in the videos but are writtendown in simple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wave lab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really any anything updated andonce you have it you will always havethe latest information constantlyupdated so if you haven't gotten italready go to the link below click on itand save it to your favorites it's mygift to you and it's absolutely freeOkay so let's get started so we're onthe fourth video of the badge processorand the previous videos and all videosfor this channel are always in thenavigation guide in the link below butin the last video we focused ourdiscussion down here into this outputarea and we were examining some of theseoutput options when you batch processyour files and we got about halfwaythrough so now let's pick it up andwe'll start discussing stuff in theexplicit path option now moving downfrom an explicit path we have somevariations on that and this first onesays explicit path recreate the folderstructure to begin with this I'm goingto set a folder on the bottom in thetemp folder and I'm just going to callit explicit path and for this example Ikind of put three files from one driveand then I brought in one file from my Cdrive so I have four files but they'renot necessarily from the same drive if Ilook in the output it has put the samefolder in there that I put in the outputdown here the temp explicit path so sofar so good everything looks like it'ssupposed to but if I go ahead and try torun these files if I hit the Run buttonI get an error that says please select avalid folder so here's the first snagthat you need to understand with thisoption in order to execute this optionyou have to put something up in thefolder space aboveand now the other thing that's confusingabout that is what you put up here hasnothing to do really with where thefiles are going to go for example if Iput a location up here see music orwhatever whatever file area I want toput up here no files are going to gointo those folders or folder that I putup here for this particular option thisis only a reference to kind of try tofigure out how the actual names of thefiles are going to be laid out andthat's why the thing is so darnconfusing in a way but let me try toshow you again an example here thatmaybe clarify it you can basically putanything you want up here in the folderfor example if I put in here a and thena colon and then I try to run this I'mstill going to get an error that this isno good because I have no actual a driveon my computer I have a C drive I have aG drive and some other drives like thatso if I put in something like that thenthis will work now here's what I wantyou to see what happens when I do thison the first example in the input areahere these examples are coming from an HDrive I'm going to put an H Drive inhere I'm going to type in h and a colonthe minute that I do that the threefiles that are on the H Drive actuallychange over here in the output on theother hand the one that's on the C drivemakes no change what happened on theones that are on the age Drive is thatit now not only took the folder that I'mgoing to be rendering these files intobut it added some kind of mimic arepresentation folder or file chainhowever you want to look at it that theoriginal files were in in the firstexample I'm processing and putting thesefiles in the ctemp explicit path that'swhere I created my file and where I'mputting it the files are coming fromthis long string of files the H musicslash wavelab slash batch processing onand on and on the minute I type in the Hup here in the folder option it now hasattached to That ctemp explicit thatlong string of files wavelab coursebatch processing files on and on and onwhatever it would be but it didn't doanything to the one from the C drive onthe other end if I go back up here and Ierase this H and I put a c colon in herenow the first three files are still justgoing into the temp file but the lastfile which comes from the C drive is nowattached this long string reflecting theoriginal file hierarchy that it camefrom so the best advice I can give youif you want to start seeing this optionin action is put some of your files intothe processor here and then adddifferent drives up here in the folderand watch the results and then you willbegin to understand exactly what it'sdoingso the simplest definition I can reallygive you for this whole explicit pathset of features we have here is thatwavelab attempts to create the folderstructure into this new explicit folderthat we create so if your Source folderhas three different you know foldersthat it comes from wavelab is going tocreate a picture basically of thosethree folders but they're going to beplaced in the new explicit path folderand these next few options kind ofdetermine how deep of that folderstructure you want to go because youhave options here that go explicit pathSource folder listopath Source foldertwo levels and explicit path Sourcefolder three levels and every time youdo this let's start from the top onesource folder if I click on that which Ihave my source folder actually has threedifferent levels of folders it is themain folder on the hard drive and it hasthe subfolder of that and anothersubfolder and all of these start fromthe final folder and kind of work theirway backwards so in this example thefinal folder on this says badgeprocessing files so when I have it atsource folder going to my ctemp explicitpath that's what it says ctemp explicitpath batch processing files the firstfolder if I move on to the next optionand go give me the explicit path plusthe source folder at two levels and nowit's going to take the last two foldersthat it has here and my music wave labbatch processing it's going to go C tapexplicit path then it's going to gowavelab and that's going to go to thebatch processing files and then thefinal option here if I go to the threelevels because my original Source folderis only at three levels it captures thatwhole Source folder and puts it in thistemp file as well so let me show you areal quick example to try to make itsomewhat clear to you first I'm going towind this bag to the first one that saysexplicit path and this one is simplygoing to take the files that I renderand put them into my new explicit pathso let me run this real quick worked outgreat now I'm going to right click andsay show me in the file explorer andthis is what we have three new filesthat have been rendered off withwhatever processing in my new temp filethat I created up here but there's nosubfolders here let me erase all thesenow let's go to this final option we'llgo to the explicit path Source folderand three levels I'm going to reset allthese files if you see it on the outputit's changed so there's a very longstring of different you know paths andfiles and folders and everything I'mgoing to go ahead and run this all I'mnow going to reveal in the file exploreragainand if I go back to the first folderthat I started with my explicit pathfolder here I no longer have files inhere but I have another folder and thisfolder is the mimic of the folder thatit came from and if I click on thattaken to another folder and if I clickon that folder I'm taken to anotherfolder and these are all folders Ioriginally had these files in on adifferent hard drive now if I click itagain now I finally get to my files soit basically recreates the whole foldertree that these files reside in which tome the real value and purpose ofsomething like this would be it allowsyou to keep the folder structure intactand then you would have some kind ofreference in history as to where yourfiles actually came from in the firstplace and then you have one final optiondown here if I click this list it saysno audio output if I click on thatexcept these files it now shows it'sgoing nowhere this seems like anexercise in futility right but the ideahere is that wavelab still will processthese files and if you set up watchfolders which is a subject we're goingto come up to later you would be able todo a text analysis this is where you'dbe able to see what kind of results willbe done and have it written to a textfile another great option for most ofthese outputs you have an option to comedown here and check the rename the filesand once you check that another fieldwill light up and you can pick optionsfrom there there's a few Factory presetsabout whether you want counters to be atthe prefix or the suffix or randomchoices below that you have an optionfor the naming schemes where you can putin the date or different numericprefixes which is great especially ifyou have a lot of you know similar namefiles with each one of these renameoptions for example if I go back to thisfirst counter one there's an option thatsays edit and if you click on that youbasically get another window where youcan set up your own defined namingoptions and this could take many videoson its own because there are just somany options here if you hit the littleTrash Can you can remove the preset thatmay be in here hit the plus sign andyou'll get a blank one at that pointyou'll get different categories you canpick on the right and the differenttypes of how you want it to be there'san option to come down and hit Advancededit which opens up another screen withall kinds of different buttons andoptions and just about anything you canimagine in terms of renaming your filesyou have those options available but formany many of the functions you'll wantto do just being able to add numbers ordates or these kind of things to yourfiles is a great option to have allright it's going to wrap it up for todayas always if you haven't grabbed yournavigation guide be sure to grab thatbefore you go has links to all thecontent on this channel ever growing andfree to use great for studying learningbut most of all it's great for reviewingwhen you amass 10 million subjects andyou forgot that first one you learnedthree months ago you can't beat beingable to just kick on that video andrelearn it again so we continue with thebadge processor today we got in deepinto the explicit path and the recreatefolder structure The Source folder andthe source folder with two levels andthree levels and then we saw that noaudio output and how that's basicallyused for text files and then we saw thatoption at the end for renaming theoutput files which is really good thewhole point being a straight line fromnot knowing it to knowing exactly whatto do when you need it and when that daycomes up where you want to badge processa few files you don't have to sit thereand look at the screen and go oh what amI doing and we will continue thediscussion as we move along through allthis information it's great to have youguys here and I'll see you on the nextvideo
