Batch Processing V1 in Wavelab Pro

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigitalaudiomanual.com today let's startlooking at the batch processor inwavelab Pro but before we start I wantto remind you that there's a link belowto the free content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate webpagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there you know thingslike simple steps that will get youstarted and up and running quick thingsthat are in the videos but are writtendown in simple steps that serve as quickreminders when you need information downthe road if you're working with programslike wavelab or Cubase plugins or thecable guys shaper box and many manyother projects that are in the worksthen I know you're going to find justlike I have that this is an invaluablestudy Aid and the other thing I want tomake sure you understand is that this isnot a simple PDF this is a constantlyupdated page that has any informationthat is new or anytime videos arechanged really anything up updated andonce you have it you will always havethe latest information constantlyupdated so if you haven't gotten italready go to the link below click on itand save it to your favorites it's mygift to you and it's absolutely freeOkay so let's get started so the badgeprocessor just one more great feature inwavelab allows you to process multiplefiles with multiple tasks and you canset them up in the batch processor sowhere do you start with all this wellright now I'm looking at a batchprocessor in wavelab I have variouswindows up which I'm going to close herebut the badge processor is one more tabin the file group it's like you can havea montage and an audio file and allthese other things in a file group youcan also have a badge processor if Iclose this file group down which I'mgoing to go ahead and do let me ask meif I want to save it I don't so I'm nowlooking at a blank project in wavelab ifI go up in the command bar and I hit thelittle button here for new I'm given allthese options of what I can create theMontage of the file and that kind ofthing but one option here is the badgeprocessor so if I click on that I'mgiven various things you know templatesand this kind of stuff if I have themI'm going to go ahead and take thisChoice it says create an empty and I'mgoing to take that and now I'm lookingat the batch processor and down here youhave a window in this area where you addfiles and basically you can add you knowone file or hundreds files whatever youwant to start processing and over on theleft is what you would process them withmaybe various effects or differentthings so let's go ahead and add somefiles in here if I go over into thisfile area let's stick with the audiofiles from them hit audio files and Icome down it says recent files let's goto that one and over on the right I cansay select multiple so I take that andthen I can just pick whatever files Iwant out of here hit ok now I want tolook for some kind of process so I'mgoing to hit this little plus buttonmaybe I'll go down to the spot and itsays medipass plugins and right here Ihave my meta normalizer I'm going toclick on that once I've clicked on somekind of process I can just go ahead anddouble click on it to refine it thefirst option here says match the loudestaudio file so I'm going to say okay andat that point if I hit start it's goingto go through all the files and it'sgoing to hit the loudest one it's goingto match all these other files to itwith one shotso like many other things it's alsopossible to get yourself into a lot oftrouble when you start playing with newthings like this so let me show you someways to avoid getting yourself into asituation you may not want to go whenyou have a set of files that you'regoing to batch process like here I havesix seven files I've set up and then Ihave over here maybe four or fivedifferent processes ways I'm going tofade it or trim it or do any kinds ofthings to these filesif I'm not somewhat mindful of what I'mactually doing there's a good chance Icould permanently alter and basicallyruin my files so you want to have someidea of that before you go too far intothis whole idea of badge processing thebest way to do it is when you go downhere there's an area that basically setsup the output of whatever you're goingto do and if you look at this drop downyou're going to see all these variousthings and we'll talk about these comingup but some of these are basically ideasthat will just allow you to completelyoverwrite your files without anyprompting or warning and if you didn'twant to normalize all your files or chopyour files or add Fades permanently toyour files you're going to want to takethis basic option here that sayssubfolder output in the source path andwhat this does is it by default alwayscreates a new folder wherever your filesreside calls it output and then puts allthese badged process files into thatoutput folder thereby not overwriting inany way your original files for exampleif we go over here on the execution sideI have this set right now that saysoverwrite without question talk about adangerous option if I have somethingthat I've you know produced in some wayand I have it in a folder then that'sthe only copy of that file I have andthen I set this up to batch processright over those files and to overwritewithout question I could get some bigsurprises that I might not be very happywith at some later time so again feelfree to experiment as we go through thisbut make sure that right now you havethis set to the subfolder output andSource path now let me give you anexample of exactly what that does let meshow you some shortcuts of things I'mgoing to select all these files for aminute and all these files have a littlegreen dot means they've already beenprocessed but I'm going to reset them ifI right click on here and I'm going tohit reset status which puts them allback to before they were processed and Iactually have two different processesgoing here two different tabsso I'm going to do it to both of theseI'm going to hit reset status before wedo this let me show you some things upon this edit Tab and this first area youhave was called the execution if I hitthe start button whatever process I haveand I have two processes going on thenit's going to run through all theseprocesses on all these files and putthem in this subfolder like I said onthe other hand if I go over and hit therun all it's not only going to do thisprocess but it will move on and do thenext process and I could create allkinds of processes and just let them goand off they would run all through themall so I'm going to do this first onehere I'm going to go back to this firsttab highlight it and I have fourdifferent processes that it's going todo here and we'll talk about some ofthese coming up as well but justunderstand we have four things that aregoing to happen to these files so I'mgoing to hit the start buttonand what's happened is on every one ofthese files it went from like a clearCircle to a solid green circle meansevery one of these files has now beenprocessed and again if I didn't mean toand I had these set in the wrong Sourcefolder I have now just changed all myfiles not a very happy situation butbecause I've set them up to in thesubfolder of the source path for exampleif I go up to one of these tracks I canactually right click on it and I cancome down and say reveal and fileexplorer so I click on that and thatopens a window on my Explorer which hasmy original files here which I hopefullyhave not changed right but right upabove it is a new folder called outputwhich wavelength just created for me itwasn't here before I double click onthis and this is where the new fileshave been batch processed now reside andevery one of these files if I were toexamine them would have the all theseprocesses that have been put in here nowthe other beauty of this is that allthese files that are in here don'tnecessarily have to be in the samefolder for example if I go to one ofthese other files up here and I rightclick on this and I say reveal fileexplorer this file was in a wholedifferent location on my hard drive andwavelab went ahead and put anotherfolder in this subfolder called outputand it put that file and any other filesrelated to it so it does a whole bunchof stuff in the background it's able tosee where all these files reside in alldifferent locations carry out the batchprocesses create output folders andevery one of those folders and then sendthose files to it now one more thingbefore we go too much further in herealso when you're shutting down the batchprocessor again just because wavelab ingeneral sometimes these things can beconfusing understand that these are tabsin the file group and to close these Ican hit the little X on these batchprocessors to close them down and I canalso just click the file group to shutit down as well if I have these variousthings open so like we said before ifyou want to open a batch processor youcan go to your command bar there's otherways as well but that's a good way to goand you can create your batch processorand then when you want to shut it downyou can either hit the file group or thebatch processor and shut it down as wellthen back up to these buttons again inthe execution if I hit the start buttonor the run all either one and this isrunning through these batch processes Ithen have the option to pause it if Iwant to which then allows me to hit thepause button again and it'll just pickup from there or I have the option tocancel it if I wanted to stop everythingin its tracks so how do you know theprocessing you're going to apply is whatyou want well that's where you have abutton that says preview the processingso if I select the file that I want tocheck out let's say the second one hereand I hit previewforeign[Music]and there's an option down here this isthe duration so I have it set at threeseconds but if I spin it up to let's say10 seconds and hit previewthen I get a longersample of the I'll just stop it I'mgoing to spin that back down to justthree seconds so let's put a process inhere let's say I go to the pitchcorrection and I open that up I'm goingto raise it up to let's say sevensemitones so we can hear it okay is thatwhat I want well let's preview it Iclick on it I hit the preview buttonthank you and then I can hear thedifference all right that's going towrap it up for today as usual if youhaven't grabbed your navigation guide besure to grab that from the link belowgives you access to all the content onthis channel in order and constantlybeing updated the whole idea there is totry to make everybody's life easierincluding mine when we need to brush upor relearn it or any number of thingshopefully the journey will be muchshorter to find the solution so we beginlooking at the batch processor today wejust kind of looked at the basics ofclosing and opening it and some of theexecution areas where we start and pauseand cancel and run all the differentprocesses I tried to show you some ofthe ways to stay out of trouble so youdon't overwrite your very importantfiles and then we had to look at thepreview processing option and thepromise of many great features to comeas we explore them all as usual it'sgreat to have you guys here and I'll seeyou on the next video
